With Whirlpool top loader models the pump is located at the bottom of the appliance. The pump is accessed from underneath the appliance. Some model may have an access panel at the back. I think that with the Ultimate Care models the pump must be accessed from underneath. Here a repair video. Here parts and diagrams.
Empty turn on side can be a couplke of things. Check drive transmission and water pump for obstruction/binding and for slippage replace parts as needed.
If your washer doesn't spin or pump water out but the motor is running, your washer probably has a frozen pump pulley. If so, you need to replace the pump. To check the pulley, remove the pump from the washer and try to rotate the pulley manually. If it doesn't turn freely--if it's frozen or stiff--replace it.
