Agitator Won't Work

I have a Whirlpool Ultimate Care II Model: LSQ8543JQ1, Serial: CL 0718595 Type: 111 and just within the last couple weeks it won't agitate unless you grab it at the top and help it. Then it stops again and shakes. What do you suggest to correct the problem? Thanks in advance, Matt

    dididsaythat,

It does look like it's a 2 piece agitator. Does it take much to disassemble it to see if the gears are stripped?

    Thanks,
    Matt

MAN! I've been fighting to pull the top away from the bottom and had no luck. How the heck can I get the Auger pulled apart from the agitator?

    Thanks for all your help.

    Matt

I ended up banging it upside down for a while and it finally came apart. It was the "cam dogs" that were worn out. Replaced them and it's up and running again.

    Thanks for your help,
    Matt

You can buy the entire agitator assembly from here:
http://www.partselect.com/xq/aspx/Inventory.350868/qx/PartDetail.htm?SourceCode=1

It looks like it is the lower agitator and the upper part with the cam pieces already put together. I couldn't see how to disassemble my top part in order to get to the cam. The plastic tabs are all worn down that connect the top part to the lower agitator part. By ordering the entire assembly it will cost more but will save me a big headache.

I have a Whirlpool Ulitimate II Washing Machine problem. Model LSQ9010KQ0 Serial CM2756127 Type 111. Seems to be working fine expect that after the spin cycle the clothes are still pretty wet. Water is...

It sounds like what you're describing is a weak clutch. The clutch could be worn & slipping or may have oil residue on the clutch pads. I would recommend replacing the clutch. Here is a link to the part.

Wobbly agitator

If you remove the center cap from the agitator there should be either a bolt or a square recessed socket that you can attempt to tighten. The bolt is either 7/16" or 1/2". The recessed socket can be tightened using a 3/8" to 1/2" socket adapter.

Make sure the agitator is seated properly on the center post. You can accomplish this by finding the mounting bolt and loosening it enough to free the agitator on the post and push down evenly on the bottom flanges at the base of the agitator where it meets to bottom of the tub.

Try this and let me know if it helps. Post back if you need further assistance.

Washer Won't Agitate

I would make sure that the washer is properly leveled, and ensure that all sensors that check if the door is closed are working properly.
