Heater turns on for a few seconds then goes out

When I push the reset button the reddy heater 50,000 btu starts up runs for approx. 15 to 20 seconds, reset button pops out and stops running. Spark plug sparks until reset button pops out, optic eye has been cleaned, fuel filter has been cleaned, next time it is started it runs for a shorter time and reset button pops out again. Absolutely K1 or diesel can get old in a hurry, the ultra-low Sulphur diesel has been tinkered with so much that it turns to book varnish much faster than before 2010. Most of those heaters spray fuel past the igniters using a siphon much like a spray paint gun, the suction tube may have dry rot or a small air leak and it it takes but a tiny air leak to kill the siphon effect. Check the tube from the nozzle all the way down to the fuel tank or replace it if you're not certain it is not compromised or dry rotted.

SOURCE: pro 110, runs 10 min., blows white smoke ,shuts off

the first thing you need to do is go back to useing K1 kerosene, diesel fuel not only burns dirty but also has a tendency to gel up in cold weather which could be makeing it hard for the heater to draw the proper amount of fuel. To reset the pressure you will need a gage, it should run at about 6-7 psi. you can order a pressure gage from mr. heater online, they are by far the cheapest I have found as they are the actual manufacturer or call 1-800-251-0001

SOURCE: kerosene heater won't stay lit

check to see if the photo cell is clean.to check it open the side compartment and look for the blue and white wire comming from photo cell,on the reset switch there is a white wire and a blue wire.hook these two wires to gether at the switch and try to refire the unit.if the unit keeps running the photo cell is bad and NEEDS to be changed.if the unit shuts off the safety switch is bad.

SOURCE: reddy heater has spark but no fuel to ignite it?

Steve, you must run a pressure test on the air pump to determine whether the pump is defective or if the pressure is simply out of adjustment, or if the problem is simply an air leak between the pump and the nozzle.

The air pressure/flow is directly related to fuel flow.

Instructions for checking the pressure can be seen on the ReddyParts.com website http://reddyparts.com/pressure.htm

I have a 100,000 btu reddy heater, and every time I turn it on, it runs for about 5 minutes, then stops, then I have to push the reset button and start it again. Can you tell me where to start? thanx

If it actually ignites and burns but shuts off either the flame sensor is bad (or dirty) or the control is bad. I would verify the flame sensor is clean and had good electrical connections to the controller for starters.

I have an R50 Reddy heater. It will start and run and heat for about 4 mins, then it shuts down. Then I push the reset button and it will run approx. 5 soconds then shut down. What do I do and will it be...

If the heater runs good & smells good while its running, but shuts down for no apparent reason, then most likely, you have either a bad Safety Control HA3003 (reset) or a bad photocell HA3019.

But, don't rule out simple problems like:
(any of the following can cause a flameout condition, in which case the photocell will shut the unit down. This is where trouble shooting comes into effect).
  1. loss of ground at the Ignition Control (transformer)- not screwed down good
  2. restricted fuel fulter
  3. restricted or worn nozzle
  4. air pump pressure not set to specs

Trys to start. Motor turns slowly (revolution in 2-3 seconds).

Either:
  1. the reset (safety control) is bad
  2. the photocell is defective
  3. both of the above

I had the same problem with my heater. It was a cracked fuel line. I replaced the rubber hoses. On mine there was a pick up hose and a feed hose. They were dry cracked. Works great now. Hope that helps you out.

Reddy Heater keeps shutting down

check your cad cell. replace this. it is not detecting a flame. replacing the cad cell will fix your problem. when it shuts down it goes into lockout.
