Since Norton antivirus picked this trojan up I have searched through so many solutions including buying one program to remove them (it didnt) and a registry cleaner to no avail. I have searched the registry to locate this in hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\ etc etc still only finding 4 obvious files to delete. Now days later I am no closer to fixing this issue than I was two weeks ago. How to do it seems only to reformat. Anyone out there have a fix that I can do? I have learned a lot since attempting to find this. I do run zone alarm pro and have all security issues up to date...

I have tried all that the sites Google had suggested to remove Trojan.zlob. Nothing has done this no matter I even bought a registry cleaner which also did not find it. I run xp pro and have for many years--use norton antivirus pro keep my virus definitions up to date--and use zone alarm pro. Windows is kept up to date too. The how I got this *** thing is a question as I do not roam the internet and am careful opening anything. Do any of you have any solutions for me aside from looking on the registry which I already have removed some files that were suspicious. Aside from this I am asea.

First thing to do is to download and run a decent anti-virus and anti-spyware program. The best free ones at the moment are AVGfree and AVGAS which are available for download from; http://www.free.grisoft.com/ Download the 2 programs, install them, update them, and then run a full system scan - first with the anti-virus then with the anti-spyware program. Hopefully they will find and deal with your trojan. Please ask again if you need more info, the AVG programs are very clear and simple to use :)

Which Operating System you are using and which Anti Virus (AV) software is installed on your PC? Please let me know.
If your PC doesn't have an Anti Virus software I request you to install it soon. There are many AV available on the website, you can purchase a good one or you can use a trial version for few months and upgrade. I request you to update the AV daily.
Before using the USB flash drive do a scan with your AV that helps to detect and remove the Virus from the USB.
If the Trojan is enter on your PC (mainly on WINDOWS folder) its difficult to remove, so clean the PC with AV software once in a week.

Please let me know for further assistance.

Did u fully formated ur pc? if u get virus also u get this problem n when u install the os dont use the same os cd what u have already used ok coz maybe the virus is in ur os cd files ok do agin and let us knw what is happening

Go download this program from this website ( http://www.safer-networking.org/en/spybotsd/index.html ) ZLOB is a Trojan. ADD & REMOVE will not get rid of it.

Zlob virus

I found this on the net, i hope this helps you out. It also says that this nasty virus is a tough one...and you still run the risk of ruining your info on the hard drive. Back-up critical info (Docs,Music, Game info etc)

Step 1 : Use Windows File Search Tool to Find Zlob Path

Go to Start > Search > All Files or Folders.
In the "All or part of the the file name" section, type in "Zlob" file name(s).
To get better results, select "Look in: Local Hard Drives" or "Look in: My Computer" and then click "Search" button.
When Windows finishes your search, hover over the "In Folder" of "Zlob", highlight the file and copy/paste the path into the address bar. Save the file's path on your clipboard because you'll need the file path to delete Zlob in the following manual removal steps.

Step 2 : Use Windows Task Manager to Remove Zlob Processes

To open the Windows Task Manager, use the combination of CTRL+ALT+DEL or CTRL+SHIFT+ESC.
Click on the "Image Name" button to search for "Zlob" process by name.
Select the "Zlob" process and click on the "End Process" button to kill it.
Remove the "Zlob" processes files:
msmsgs.exe nvctrl.exe msmsgs.exe nvctrl.exe

Step 3 : Use Registry Editor to Remove Zlob Registry Values

To open the Registry Editor, go to Start > Run > type regedit and then press the "OK" button.
Locate and delete the entry or entries whose data value (in the rightmost column) is the spyware file(s) detected earlier.
To delete "Zlob" value, right-click on it and select the "Delete" option.
Locate and delete "Zlob" registry entries:

Step 4 : Use Windows Command Prompt to Unregister Zlob DLL Files

To open the Windows Command Prompt, go to Start > Run > type cmd and then click the "OK" button.
Type "cd" in order to change the current directory, press the "space" button, enter the full path to where you believe the Zlob DLL file is located and press the "Enter" button on your keyboard. If you don't know where Zlob DLL file is located, use the "dir" command to display the directory's contents.
To unregister "Zlob" DLL file, type in the exact directory path + "regsvr32 /u" + [DLL_NAME] (for example, :C\Spyware-folder\> regsvr32 /u Zlob.dll) and press the "Enter" button. A message will pop up that says you successfully unregistered the file.
Search and unregister "Zlob" DLL files:
uimcu.dll antzozc.dll dtjby.dll

Step 5 : Detect and Delete Other Zlob Files

To open the Windows Command Prompt, go to Start > Run > type cmd and then press the "OK" button.
Type in "dir /A name_of_the_folder" (for example, C:\Spyware-folder), which will display the folder's content even the hidden files.
To change directory, type in "cd name_of_the_folder".
Once you have the file you're looking for type in "del name_of_the_file".
To delete a file in folder, type in "del name_of_the_file".
To delete the entire folder, type in "rmdir /S name_of_the_folder".
Select the "Zlob" process and click on the "End Process" button to kill it.
Remove the "Zlob" processes files:

you need to turn off system restore first as it backs itself up and then run your anti virus again, prefferably in safe mode, restart the pc and turn system restore back on.
