I have a Whirlpool Ultimate Care II Model: LSQ8543JQ1, Serial: CL 0718595 Type: 111
and just within the last couple weeks it won't agitate unless you grab it at the top and help it. Then it stops again and shakes.
What do you suggest to correct the problem?
Thanks in advance,
Do you have to press down on the agitator to make it work if so the machine may have been overloaded causing wear on the gears making them not engage unless pressure is applied. This means that you either need to have a repairman come out or make friends with a local washing machine sales and service person to get tips and assistance finding parts needed to fix it.

Could be a problem with the lid switch or motor coupling.
Does it drain?
Does it spin?
when its time to agitate or spin, do you hear the motor?
Lets start with the lid switch. open the lid and use a screw driver to push the switch down. pay attention to see if you hear it click. Try to run the unit with the screw driver holding down the switch.

When you replaced the motor coupler, did you remove the wiring harness from the motor? If you did, then check to see if you bent a pin aside on the motor when you plugged it back in. I have done this numerous times myself.
If you remove the center cap from the agitator there should be either a bolt or a square recessed socket that you can attempt to tighten. The bolt is either 7/16" or 1/2". The recessed socket can be tightened using a 3/8" to 1/2" socket adapter.
Make sure the agitator is seated properly on the center post. You can accomplish this by finding the mounting bolt and loosening it enough to free the agitator on the post and push down evenly on the bottom flanges at the base of the agitator where it meets to bottom of the tub.
Try this and let me know if it helps. Post back if you need further assistance.
