before you reset every thing lets do these steps
In order to optimize your computer performance, follow the instructions given below.
1. Delete all of the temporary files.
a. Click Start, Click Run(Window XP) and type temp(Window Vista and Window 7-type in the Start Search box which appears at the botton left hand side corner, once you click Start), hit Enter, (hit Continue if required), Click Edit at the top in the menu bar, click Select All, Right Click on Mouse and hit Delete. This would delete all of the temporary files.Note:in Window Vista and Window 7, Menu bar would appear by hitting Alt key.
b. Click Start, Click Run(Window XP) and type %temp%(Window Vista and Window 7-type in the Start Search box which appears at the botton left hand side corner, once you click Start), hit Enter, (hit Continue if required), Click Edit at the top in the menu bar, click Select All, Right Click on Mouse and hit Delete. This would delete all of the temporary files.
c.Click Start, Click Run(Window XP) and type prefetch(Window Vista and Window 7-type in the Start Search box which appears at the botton left hand side corner,once you click Start), hit Enter, (hit Continue if required), Click Edit at the top in the menu bar, click Select All, Right Click on Mouse and hit Delete. This would delete all of the temporary files.
2.Run Disk Cleanup to free up wasted space.Click Start, click My Computer, right click C drive and click Properties. Now, click Disk Cleanup. It will delete all of the useless temporary files.If it ask to click Next, click Next.
3. Run Disk check.Disk Check program is used to check and clean any errors on your computer and keep it running smoothly.
How to run Disk Check:Click Start, click My Computer.Right-click on C drive, click Properties.Now, click the tab, Tools. In the Error-Checking section, click the Check Now. Also, check both of the check boxes: Automatically fix file system error and scan for and attemp bad recovery of bad sectors.
Now, You will see a message box that says you can schedule the disk check to start the next time you restart your computer. Click Yes. The next time you restart your computer, it will automatically run through a disk check before displaying your login screen. After the disk check finishes, Windows will automatically bring you to your login screen.Note: Check Disk can take more than an hour to check and clean errors on your computer.
4.Defragment Your ComputerTo arrange the files in a sequential manner, it is recommended to defragment the hard drive. Click Start, click My Computer, right-click Local Disk, aclick Properties.Now, the Tools tab, click Defragment Now. Now, Click first hard disk, click Defragment.Note: Disk Defragment may take long time like 30-40 minute to complete.
5.Stop Programs from running at the startup.
As soon as you restart the computer a number of programs load themselves at the startup and you will be able to see them at the bottom right-hand side corner. In order to stop some of the programs (except security software and programs which you use immediately after starting up your computer) to load itself automatically, please follow these steps.
Click Start, Click Run(Window XP) and type msconfig(Window Vista and Window 7-type in the Start Search box which appears at the botton once you click Start),hit Enter, (hit Continue if required)You will see System Configuration Utility. Click Startup at the top right hand side corner. Now,uncheck the items which you want to stop to load automatically.Now, click Apply and then click OK or Close. Click 'Exit without restart'Now, you have to delete the startup from registry.Click Start, Click Run(Window XP) and type regedit(Window Vista and Window 7-type in the Start Search box which appears at the botton left hand side corner, once you click Start), hit Enter, (hit Continue if required),.Now, scroll up to the top and click Computer, rigth-click it and click Export and save it as file name say backup on the desktop.
In order to remove startup from the registry go the following locations:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftSharedToolsMSConfigstartupfolder
Right click startupfolder and click Delete.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftShared ToolsMSConfigstartupreg
Right click startupreg and click Delete.
Restart your computer.
6.Uninstall the useless programs(like gaming softwares, unnecessary toolbars like my web search, myfreeze toolbar)Click Start, click Control Panel, Click Add or Remove programs(Programs and Features or Programs in Window Vista and Window 7),you will see a list of the programs. Click on the programs, you want to uninstall and click Remove(Uninstall in Window Vista and Window 7).
7.Scan the computer with good antimalware, antispyware, antivirus.

8.Update the drivers on the computer.Click Start, Click Run(Window XP) and type devmgmt.msc(Window Vista and Window 7-type in the Start Search box which appears at the botton left hand side corner, once you click Start), hit Enter, (hit Continue if required).Right click the device, click Properties.Click Driver tab, and click Update Driver.Follow the on screen instructions to complete update.
9.Upgrade RAMWindows can run slow if you do not have enough RAM.Many newer operating systems and programs use more RAM when they are running.How to check RAM.Click Start, right click My Computer, click Properties. You will see the RAM mentioned her.You should have at least 1 Gb(2 GB would be even more better)RAM.
10.Update Windows
Windows XP:Click Start, click Control Panel,Click Performance and Maintenance, Click System, click Automatic Updates tabclick Turn automatic updating on and click install updates.
Windows Vista:Click Start, click Control Panel, click System and Maintenance,click Windows Update,click Turn automatic updating on and click install updates.
