While sewing on towels, it helps to use a wash away stabalizer also on the top surface. Also, you may want to wash the towel first. this will soften the surface.

Delint upper tension with Compressed Dry Canned Lint Remover ie: Computer Quality. Be sure no thread is in machine and foot is up so tension is released
i changed thread again, and it is working fine now. don't know if that was actually the problem, or coincidence! but i read at your website that someone suggested old thread could be a problem. many thanks, b.
Go for it! Just sew very slowly at first, maybe just turn the handwheel by hand to make sure you don't toast the new bobbin case. If the new bobbin case doesn't fix the problem then you will need to take it in for service, it may need adjustments that most people dont' know how to do. good luck!
I'm not sure which thread you are referring to, its either the bobbin thread (under) or the needle thread (above.top) I'm sure you can find some helpful advise here on the baby lock site http://www.babylock.com/support/faq/?FAQ=10
One of the most common mistakes with overlockers is that the threads must always be threaded in order. So if you sew about 1 inch and the thread breaks try unthreading the eyes of the needles rethread the looper and then rethread the eyes of thew needles. If not you will get the same result of sewing about 1 inch and it will break again.
I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN SEVERAL TIMES AND WHEN I WOULD CHECK THREAD IT WOULD BE OK, MOST OF THE TIME HOWEVER, IF I COMPLETELY UNTHREAD IT AND RETHREAD IT THE PROBLEM IS SOLVED. I HATE IT WHEN THEY DO THIS MUST BE A PROBLEM WITH ALL OF THEM
I don't know for sure, but I have found that a dull needle will cause the thread to break. We have fixed many machines just by changing the needle. Try it, it may fix the problem.
