Go to the properties of each wireless network card in network connections in your control panel and click on the TCP/IP line and click properties again and ensure obtain ip address automatically is selected and click ok, restart pc. Next, reset the router at the rear if possibe with a pointed implement, then you need to get into the routers settings (192.168.2.1 in your web browser) and look for DHCP, and enable it so as to give your pc's there automatic ip addresses, also check in the general settings if it's a modem router that you have got a internet connection from your ISP and all the dns and ip addresses are showing. Restart all pc's if neccasary and refresh your web browser when trying to get online.

WLAN restore?

it is always best to give as much info as possible when describing a problem you're haveing. this is a laptop, right? and your wireless LAN has stopped working? You can go to control panel, network and sharing center, and click 'troubleshoot' at the bottom of the page and it will search for problems with the device. if you have recently changed routers, then the laptop will have to be paired with the new router to work properly. usually, when you do that, it should automatically search out and connect to the new router. if troubleshoot says noting is wrong, try the options connect to a network or setup a new network connection

Can't make a wireless connection.

what's the error? if your getting the error Connected with limited connectivity try checking your network key in the router and the wireless settings on your computer if they are correct or just removed your security key, if your getting an error no networks in range or no network available check the router settings if the wireless signal is turned on the router, if you get an error windows could not connect to wireless networks try uninstalling and reinstalling the wireless card driver on your system and set the the router to defaults then try connecting with out changing any settings in the router to see if it will connect, if it connects, then there was/were settings in the router and possibly in the wireless settings in your laptop that was causing the computer and the router to have communication issues, also check for possible applications such as network magic that could cause a wireless signal to degrade or not allow connections at all if such application exists on your system uninstall it Microsoft or windows has its own wireless configuration software built into handle wireless connections in XP it is wireless zero configuration in vista and in win7 WLAN which can be set in network and sharing connection in the control panel window.....

Is there any computer connected to the router ?
If not then you will need to connect the computer to the router.
Do not change any wireless settings on the router with the wireless computer.
you will need to connect the computer to the router with the Ethernet cable.
check the IP address of the computer.
open the router set up page of the router.
Here you can change the wireless settings of the router.
Now once you change the network anme and security on the router, you will need to connect to the wireless network on your wireless computers.

Wi-fi throufh dlink router has worked fine in past on my laptop. Recently the operating system was replaced and it will not connect- message is 'wireless network connection doesn't have a valid IP...

Operating System? Sounds like you might need to reinstall your router. the valid ip configeration issue probably happened because once a router hooks up to the internet it has a set ip address but since the operating system changed your's and your friends computer don't recignize it. If reinstalling the router doesn't work then you should try asking whoever changed the operating system.

Icouldn't access the internet. Your help tam, via

Please go in to your router and change the wireless setting from WPA2-PSK to WEP. Ansd then try to connect your laptop.
To windows after you change setting to WEP
(XP bottom right hand side you have system tray in that you have a wireless sign click on it. It ask for the password which you will change put that password click connect)
For laptop also same in case it not work then
(window icon>control panel>network and sharing center>wireless connection>properties>put the password click connect (then it will check out the wireless signal after sometime you will'be able to connect).
Hope this will resolve your issue.

Laptop keeps disconecting from belkin54g dsl network (home)

Wireless connections are best when distances are short and there are no brick or thick walls interfering with the signal between the router and your laptop. Try the following test:
Start using the laptop from an open location that is close to the router. Monitor the signal strength as you walk away from the router. Go into other rooms, go upstairs, downstairs, etc, and you will most likely notice differences in signal strength depending on where you are, or how far you move. Of course, you will suffer frequent disconnections when the signal is at its weakest point, no matter what equipment you use, be it new or used.
Try locating the router in a way that your signal strength is strongest, without affecting the other computers. It's a trial and error thing.
One last thing you could do is to go to your wireless adaptor configuration settings and set the Roaming capability to agressive, and set the connectivity to distance, for higher performance.
Good luck!
