Question about Panasonic PT-53WX54 53" Rear Projection HDTV
My Panasonic TV starting making a LOUD very noticeable popping noise while similtaneously going black for a split second. What the F* is going on? It happened first a few days ago, then again maybe yesterday, now it is happening a couple times in ten minutes, then goes away then comes back again. Now it seems like it is happening far to much, anyone got any idea's? Please help, football season is here and I'M SCARED (hang in there lil' buddy)!!
A loud popping noise, like a sharp "snap!", is usually caused by high voltage arcing. Somewhere in the high voltage system an insulator may be cracked or loose, such as the plastic around the flyback transformer or one of the rubber cups on a picture tube. When the high voltage arcs, it momentarily drops and the picture could go out for a split second. High voltage is dangerous in projection sets so allow a qualified tech to service it for you.
