I dropped my Canon A1000 IS and it won't turn on. I can still view pictures when I press the display/triangle button but nothing happens when I press the On/Off button.

I dropped my canon powershot SD 4500 IS and now it won't turn on! It's survived countless other falls just fine, and would turn on immediately then. All times, including this time, have been when...

Really!....you've dropped your camera "countless" other times and now you're concerned because this time, it won't turn on!!! You're not sure what else to do?!!! How about not dropping your camera. How about using the wrist strap. Your dropping luck has run out...your camera does not have nine lives.

My canon powershot A1000 won't import my pictures, but previously it had.

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Try this...remove the card and battery...press all the buttons...leave it alone for 20 minutes...insert the card and then the battery...turn it on. Let me know what happened.

Canon A620 No Picture

First try hitting the DISP button (sorry if this offends, but many people have made this mistake). If this doesn't help, next try resetting the camera. Turn on the camera, and hold the menu button for at least five seconds. Believe reset is also in the menus.

If the above doesn't help, then unfortunately this sounds like your CCD image sensor may have failed. This would then require professional repair. Contact Canon at 1-800-OK-CANON.

Dropped SD400 - buttons no longer work

Not only is a repair shop your only option, you'll probably find it will cost nearly as much to fix than to buy a more recent model.

There are three really weak spots in the SD400 and most small digital cameras: the lens mechanism, the battery door, and the built-in lens shade. Care in closing the battery door so you don't break off the little lugs that hold it shut - using a neck strap so you don't drop the camera - and making sure no sand or grit gets into the lens cap mechanism will make your next camera last a lot longer.
