Hi just read your posting. The 2 wires you mentioned definitely came from the 2 terminals of the pump,Is that correct?Does your fan have a fan attached to it?Now if you have answered yes to both questions then the 2 wires can go to any of the terminals of the pump as it does not matter which way round they go.In other words the wires are interchangeable and it wont change the direction of the pump.Just to be sure, the black wire goes to one terminal and the white wire goes to the other terminal.Hope this helps and please reply to tell me how you got on or if you need further help.
The three wires you should have are
1-Brown-goes to L
2 Thin black to N
3 White to C..
Hotpoint never have incorporated a wiring diagram on any of their british made appliances, so previous comments made do not apply in this case.
Hope this helps.
New motherboard will have a picture of the pin connections and where they connect on the motherboard. Just follow these connections, also the wires leading from the from the front of the case to the motherboard are labelled as to what they connect to. As a final note, the white wire on the connectors is usually always the ground wire, so look at the drawing carefully to see which side is the positive and make sure that the coloured wire goes to the positive side not the white.

Hi:
An option for you is to just purchase a cheap adapter to plug your case fan into a unused power supply plug, such as one that plugs into a hard drive or optical drive.
Which wires do you mean? The wires for the reset and power buttons on the case? The pin arrangement is usually part of something called the front panel header, it's a series of pins for stuff like the power LED, HDD led, and speaker. The pin arrangement should be in your motherboard manual. If that's not what you're talking about please clarify. If you're in the Washington DC/Rockville MD area, please shoot me a line at Inovagent.
The hdd red wire gooes to pin #1 the hdd white wire goes to pin #3 the power sw orange wire goes to pin #6 the power sw white wire goes to pin #8 The reset sw blue wire goes to pin #7 the reset sw white wire goes to pin #5 the power led green wire goes to pin #2 the power led white wire goes to pin #4.
Now the layout of the pins is the long row (5) pins are the odd number pins 9 being the odd one and 1 is the other end of the row. 2 through 8 start at the pin accross from 1 : : : : . I hope this helps you.
Hi, Usually the power on button only has two wires. Then you have HDD led leads, reset leads, power led leads etc. These are all separate wires that fit onto separate pins in the Jpanel1 (front panel header).
Could be that the really old emachines grouped all these wires and made them into a plug to fit their own style motherboards.
If this is the case then that connector would not be on your newer motherboard, and it would have that Jpanel1 instead.
Hope this helps as I'm not very familiar with the old emachines.
