No pic no sound

I have a 2002 Toshiba 42H82 TV that was running fine last night and then just lost the picture and sound. It powers up but there is nothing. All the cables are fine so i'm at a loss.

I have the same problem, no picture and no sound just snowy screen. However the Xbox 360 works fine when plugged into the front jacks.

I have the same Toshiba (42h82) and lost both sound and picture. I thought it most likely was the power supply. Is it worth it to fix?
It does turn on but that's all there is.

Toshiba Model 57H83 Rear Projection TV Lost Picture and Sound

the most common problem in this set is convergence---two chips are used and if one shorts what you have happens--only way to prove this is get at and unsolder all 18 pins on both chips----if set turns on then the chips and or a resistor near them are bad.

Soldering and getting at the chips requires some skill--the parts involved usually are under 30 dollars total.

set uses chips like these:

Toshiba 42H82, no sound after fixing hyperboard.

Search for the audio amplifier - it's a chip with a radiator on it - the jack for the speakers should be close by.

Toshiba 42H82 RPTV: Sound but no picture

It sounds like the 200v supply to the crt's is missing. this is the source for driving the tubes, other than the high voltage generated by the flyback transformer. If the set got really bright gray with wome white lines that are kinda on a diagonal, this is generally the cause. the source for this voltage is a diode on the secondary of the flyback transformer.
