I just posted another solution on the main link. Basically hook up the unit to the ac adapter, reset the menu to get rid of the blinking red light, and then put a new tape in on camera mode. The unit was able to record again and also work in camera mode.
using a head cleaner might solve your problem, but dont use it to much, it will wear down your head. if this does not solve the problem you may need a head change. This will have to be done by a technician.
Do you put a tape in when you try to record or do you connect to a DVD / VCR so that it records onto the DVD or VHS?
If this is how you do it, then I will recommend you use a mini DV tape instead.
Hope this helps.
you need the i.Link cable. Please check this link:
I've been having this some problem as well. Actually, I had the problem a year ago, spent almost sticker price to get the thing fixed, it worked for a while but I didn't use my camera much, and now the problem has returned.
