Turned on self clean on my GE Spectra JBP24B0B4WH Range

When the self clean light started to blink(4hrs) I turned self clean off, waited for oven to cool, unlocked door and wipe out oven. When I went to use it and turned the temp knob to desired temp the self clean light comes on and blinks and the oven does not heat. If I turn the knob to self clean the oven heats up for self clean.
Any suggestions. I went to the circuit breaker and switched it off for a minute to see if it resets anything, but that did not work.Help!

Hello Cliff Hendershot,

One USA manual ... said turn off power for 10 minutes
(sounds reasonable after looking up cost of control board)...

USA websites are not responding to your number.
Closest I could get was to a $78 (us dollar) control panel

>> ((IMPORTANT PART ... has a video that shows repair))
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/ge-oven-control-t09-wb27t11312-ap5177950.html

~~

I could NOT get a good READ on your JBP24... page 8
So I attached a JBP19 (below)... Page 12.

The most COMMON reason to FAIL after a cleaning cycle
is your OVEN CONTROL is "off normal"

(You still do not have your MANUAL MODE restored).

Normal = "AUTOMATIC" LIGHT Off (NOT LIT)

Check your "oven controls"

else

Oven elements do break during routine use...
Check both roast & bake elements for continuity.

SOURCE: self clean light blinks when you turn oven on (oven does not work)

I had this same problem with mine (still posted under unsolved) This is the simpler model with the old turn style knob and the lever you slide over to lock the door for cleaning What I think (keep in mind I know little about ovens, more about cars) is that the switch that tells the oven the door is latched is staying engaged, and this is part of the lever mechanism. I cleaned and lubed this mechanism (obviously I would guess you want to use a food safe lubricant) and then moved the lever several times with the oven on so I could see if it turned on. After a few tries the cleaning light went off and the oven light came on. No, its not really a technical answer, all indications to me where that the problem was in the switch which is part of the latch mechanism. Good luck

SOURCE: Oven Heat

THE OVEN SWITCH IS BAD ITS STAYING CLOSED.FAIRLY EASY TO REPLACE AND NOT THAT EXPENSIVE.ANY APPLIANCE STORE CAN ORDER THE PART OR YOU CAN FIND IT ONLINE.

SOURCE: Self clean light blinks, oven does not work

You were right. The locking mechanism switch somehow became jammed and the oven thought the door was locked, even though I could open the door. I didn't know if I was supposed to take the top off and moving the lever back and forth did not help. Finally I turned the oven on and just kind of jiggled the latch in the unlocked position. I kind of moved it back and forth furiously and the cleaning light stopped blinking and the oven light came on. I'm glad it is working now, but I will be manually cleaning my oven from now on! Thanks for your help.

SOURCE: After self cleaning, Range trips circuit breaker when using convection

SOURCE: Can't turn off self clean

It was probably smoking because the goo in the oven was burning off as it should; that's how the s/c works. Turn it on and let it finish if you can. If not, then a thermal fuse tripped and you'll need the repair man. I cannot see your repyl due to some tech issue w/ the site, so it may be a day or so before I can reply again. Please leave feedback for me if appropriate. Thanks

Don't know how to start the self cleaning oven. Please advise.

Most service techs will advise you not to use self clean features on a oven due to excessive parts failures from the extreme heat.

GE true temp oven f2

This happens every time I clean my oven. It overheats, shows the f2 light and BEEPS loudly. The only way to stop it is to turn the oven off at the breaker box, wait until it cools (usually 2-3 hours), flip the breaker back on and start the process all over again until the unit is clean. If it's not to dirty, sometimes it's easier to juat use Easy Off.
hope it helped

Turn oven on Red self cleaning light comes on

You oven latch handle is either bent or the switch that attaches to the last assembly is bad. More likely you have a bent latch. You can get to it after unplugging the range, lifting the cooktop up (3 or 4 screws under the front lip) then the panel under the cooktop has to be removed to see the latch.

GE Spectra JGBP85

Try this: turn off the circuit breaker to the oven. You are looking for a pair of breakers generally rated 40 amperes or more. Turn them off, wait a minute and turn them on. If that doesn't do it, then there may be a circuit board issue.
