the menu mentioned is the on screen menu you are looking at the wrong remote as what you describe has no channel selections or volume control which you need to scroll around the on screen menu
when you get the on screen menu you will find an aspect ration section
alter that to fit the screen --ok exit

Navigate the Administration menu
From the Home screen, touch Administration to open the menu structure. You might need to scroll to
the bottom of the Home screen to see this feature.

the name of a menu to expand the structure. A plus sign (+) next to a menu name means that it contains

Hi! the blue menu screen can be turned off by pressing the same button that caused it to appear. In most cases pressing the "Menu" button on the remote or TV-control will make the blue menu screen disappear..

I am having the same problem too~ The menu screen keeps coming up!

When I turn on my TV it goes straight to the menu screen. You can still hear sound but no picture. When I try to exit you see the picture for about a second then it automatically flashes back to the menu screen. Even if I try to use the functions in the menu screen it flashes right back to the main menu screen. Very frustrated...need help!
