Venturer SVR2880 DVD Recorder/Player

The recorder will not recognize a disc when inserted for recording. It indicates that a new disc has been inserted and that it needs to be formatted but then it says the disc is damaged and unuseable. I have tried a variety of brand names of DVD+R and DVD+R/W and I get the same results. I can take the same disc and record on it with my DVD writer on my computer. The player plays CD and DVD ok but will not record. - Solution?

I have the very same problem. Actually it has worked great for months and then all of a sudden it gives me this error message when it is preparing the disc for recording. These are the exact same DVD's I have been using since day one. Memorex DVD+R 4.7GB

i do not have this problem however recently my DVD simply would not turn on, i unplugged it for a few minutes and it now works. my complaint right now is that one of the discs is now coming up as unformatted and when i try to format it, it cannot be done. the other 2 discs are fine (as this one once was also!)

SOURCE: DVD player recorder won't read or play any disc

This just worked for me. Don't know how long it will last though. I found it on this webpage
http://forum.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages/15118/130292.html

To do a reset:
On the remote control press the SETUP button,
Press the right key on the remote 3 times,
The Preference page will show up,
Press the down arrow five time to highlight
"default", hit right arrow to highlight "reset"
Press enter to reset. Turn off/on machine, etc.

SOURCE: Daewoo DVRS05 Recorded DVD won't play in OTHER DVD players

my suggestion from reading other forums is that these players sometimes have problems finalizing the disc.. you could try making a copy of the disc in a computer to see if this fixes the promlem or maybe media these use dvd+r and has a lot of compatibility issues with dvd players.

I have a Sony DVD recorder player RDR-GX257. Player works fine. Disc recorder stopped working....

1. If your Sony DVD recorder player RDR-GX257's disc recorder has stopped working, don't despair! There are a few things you can try to get it up and running again.

2. First, check to see if the disc recorder is properly connected to your TV and to an electrical outlet. If everything is plugged in correctly, try pressing the "Reset" button on the back of the DVD recorder.

3. If the reset doesn't work, try unplugging the DVD recorder from the power outlet for a few minutes, then plug it back in. This sometimes clears any glitches that may be causing the problem.

4. If the DVD recorder still isn't working, it's possible that the disc itself is the problem. Try inserting a different disc into the player and see if it will play. If it does, the first disc was probably the issue. If the second disc doesn't play either, then the problem is most likely with the DVD recorder itself.

5. If you've tried all of the above and the DVD recorder still isn't working, you may need to take it to a repair shop or contact Sony customer service for further assistance.

Device will not play previously recorded discs or record new info, but will play shop bought discs.on occasions it will display disc error. i am using new discs.

I Have had this same problem with DVD recorders. They sometimes will not play disc that were recorded on another player, you have to play these on the recorder that you used to make the recording. When recording you must finalize the discs to get them to play in other recorders, if they aren't finalized then the dvd wont recognize them as being recorded, there is no starting point set on the disc for the laser to pick up on. I have also ran into discs bought at the store that were not any good and I couldn't record on them, or when I did I would get the disc error message also. Try another brand of disc, say Memorex or Soney amd see if these will work, make sure they are compatible with the player, and they are the correct format for your player. There are 2 types DVD -R and DVD + R the + R work better on a wider range of players.

Disc inserted for recording, "no disc"?

Have you tried other discs? Are the ones you are trying to use supported by the recorder? If so, see if a DVD burner in a PC will recognize the discs. You may want to try a different brand as well in the recorder.

Can anybody help me, I purchased a Samsung dvd recorder model dvdvr350m, since purchasing the unit it will not recognize that it has recordable dvd's in it (dvd-rw),it tells me no disc inserted please...

Did the sales guy use the same DVD-RW that you did? Maybe the brand you are using is not of good quality and can not be recognized by the recorder. If he did not use the same disc did you notice if he used DVD-RW or DVD+RW? Some DVD-Recorders only recognize one or the other but this is kind of rare these days. I recommend verbatim brand discs. They should be available for sale at any shop. If you want the ultimate in quality DVDs then go with Taiyo Yuden. This Japanese brand invented recordable media and in addition to that they are obsessed with quality. www.supermediastore.com is always where I get my discs.

DVD RECORDER INDICATES "NO DISC "WHEN DISC IS INSERTED IN DVD RECORDER does not show any thing on tv when used with hdmi cable

Does this problem only occur when a HDMI cable is inserted (No Disc problem)? If so then the hardware is probably faulty. Try returning it for a new player.
