We have side by side Kenmore and on freezer side we are getting prozen water under the slide out drawers on the bottom on interior. We have cleaned it out and it refreezes and when we turned off water to...

Your drain line is frozen and not allowing the defrost water to drain to the pan below. The drain hole is at the bottom of the evaporator coil in the freezer behind the metal rear panel. You may need to remove the panel to access it. You can use hot water to thaw it out and you should be in good shape.

Our ice maker makes hollow ice cubes. Why?

Your icemaker is not getting enough water to adequatly fill the tray. Before you adjust it, check the status of the refrigerator's waterfilter. If it's old and clogged replace. Next, wait for the tray to fill, and check the level water before it has a chance to freeze. (or take the frozen tray out and allow to thaw). The tray should be about 75% or more full of water. If not, there is an adjustment that can be made to extend the amount of time the solenoid stays open (which means more time for the water to fill the trays). Good luck!

We have a whirlpool gold conquest side by side refrigerator. Water dispenser works, ice does not. Stopped suddenly making any ice. How do we fix it? It's only 2 years old.

Is the freezer cold enough? Should be close to 10 degrees.
Is there water or ice in the ice mold? If not put water in it and see if it dumps the ice after it's frozen. If there is ice, lift the cut off arm and let it drop to see if it will start.
If it does dump the ice but don't refill with water.
ICE MAKER NOT GETTING WATER
Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. It's on the back where the water supply comes in. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze blocking the fill tube.. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips.

A strainer before the inlet valve can also get stopped up restricting flow.

The water feed to the ice maker is frozen - I can see that it is plugged with frozen water. I was able to get the frozen water out of the chute that leads to the ice maker but I can still see the ice...

Hi,

This usually means the water inlet valve that feeds the ice maker is bad. It can bypass a small amount of water and that water runs so slow that it freezes in the tube you are clearing.

The valve I am talking about is behind the frig on the bottom, it should be blue in color.

To clear the ice from the tube use hot water and a turkey baster, or a hair dryer.

The part number for the water valve is 4389177

Maytag fridge no water to icemaker any suggestions

Pour about 2/3 cup of water into ice maker . If it freezes and dumps , replace the water valve . If it does not dump , replace the icemaker . Also make sure the coils are clean beneath refrig , and the clear fill tube , which fills the icemaker , is clear of ice (not frozen up ).

Whirlpool GS6SHAXMQ Side by Side Refrigerator - Ice Maker Problem

This happened to me after i had to move the freezer and it was unplugged for a while. When it was plugged back in the ice maker would not work.

Assuming both the ice maker itself and the rear water AC solenoid switch are actually not broken and are functional, and you are getting water from front door dispenser, then check the inside supply tube (black) is not frozen and blocked. Check with q-tip or feel to see if frozen.

If supply tube is frozen, thaw by holding up small full clear glass of heated water placing the frozen tube into the heated water. The clear glass will allow you to see when ice slips out.

Next try resetting the freeze cycle. Turn off the ice maker switch, remove the maker by carefully disconnecting the inside power cord. You will need to remove the inside door flap. Rinse the maker with warm water, allow to come to room temp.

Re-install maker, connect power cord. Turn on ice maker switch. Make sure Infrared sensor is not blocked. Now wait for temp change and listen for water to fill tray. It took maybe ten minutes for me. You will be able to hear the water fill with the door closed.

Again, this assumes nothing is actually broken.

This worked for me. Good luck.

Ice maker isn't filling with water. Water is on and ice maker is on. It's been humid.

Likely that the water supply tube to the icemaker is frozen. It will be a white rubber tube on the right side of the icemaker. Warm it with a hair dryer, remove it from its aluminum tubing, and make sure there is no ice all the way back to where the supply tube comes from the water valve. After thawing, your icemaker should start working again.

Now..... why did it freeze? Most likely, there is a restricted airflow to the back of the unit, which is need to keep that aluminum supply tube just warm enough to assure all the water flow OUT of it into the icemaker, and doesn't freeze up on contact. Make sure your coils and the airspace under the fridge are completely clean (vacuuum them well) and it should cure the problem.

My ice maker wont make ice the water is not going in the tray

First, make sure the arm on the ice maker not in the up (off) position.

Second, pull out the refrigerator from the wall and make sure there is no crimp in the line from the wall.

Third, check that ice is not frozen around the plastic teeth. Pull out the whole ice bucket and thoroughly check that something is not blocking or frozen in the wrong place.
This will get you started.
