The pics are on the card because I have printed them using a developing kisok. Not sure about the Sony stuff.

  • gobucks1211 Sep 07, 2007

It shows the drive, but when I select it, it says the disk is not formatted. Well I don;t want to lose the data so I'm not sure what to do. Thanks for helping me.

  • gobucks1211 Sep 07, 2007

It said the volume does not contain a recognized file system. Please make sure all the required file system drivers are loaded and that the volume is not corrupted.

  • gobucks1211 Sep 07, 2007

I;ll try that. Should work. Thanks

It may be that you actually have the pictures stored on the camera's onboard memory and you may have to plug the camera in directly to access the pictures. Or Sony may have a strange way of accessing the files on the device (they have done the same with their MP3 players), so you may be limited to using their software to get the pictures off the camera (or memory stick).

I assume when you put the memory stick into the computer, it shows up with an incremented drive letter like E: or F: correct?

Well what contents do you see inside that drive? If you see nothing at all (no folders or files - completely blank). And you're running a pre Windows Vista operating system (like XP) go to "Tools" at the top of the folder explorer and go to "Folder options", then click the "View" tab and select the option that allows you to view hidden files and confirm your choice.

    Try this:

Hold CTRL and press the letter R on your keyboard, then type "CMD" in the box that appears and hit enter. You'll be presented with a command prompt. In it, type the letter of the drive for the memory card, following a colon - for example E: or F: and hit enter.

If you simply get something showing:

    E:\>

or similar, type "dir" and hit enter and tell me what happens.

It seems you may not have put your card in the computer before. Your operating system requires that you format the card to a file system it recognises.

You may want to take the card to the same developers and see if they can put it on a CD for you and then you can format the memory card on the computer.

Once formatted, you should then pop it into your camera, take a few pictures and then put it back into your computer just to test if it has worked - but it should.

Specific models of the Aspire One are also equipped with an SD Expansion slot that can read and write to Secure Digital (SD) and Secure Digital High Capacity card (SDHC) cards.
The multi-in-one card reader on the Aspire One can read and write to miniSD, microSD, Memory Stick Duo,and Memory Stick PRO Duo cards but require the use an adapter. Acer does not provide or support any memory card adapters.
You can try removing the card reader using the device manager and the reinstall it and check the operation. You may also try using the card is different computer and check. Also try using another card in the computer with the issue and check. If the issue is not resolved please revert back with the model number.

Cannot download pics off camera. Computer not recognizing camera Cannot find software to re-install

If your computer does not recognize the camera when you plug it in to the computer and you do not have access to the software needed, you will need to find another way to get the pictures onto the computer straight from the memory card. If your computer has a memory card reader, use that because that's the easiest way to access pictures on a memory card. If your computer does not have a memory card reader, you can buy a USB adapter that your memory card can fit into and your computer can read through USB. They are cheap and useful. Here's a good one for 12.40 from amazon.com that reads many types of memory cards including:

MMCmobile, SD, SDHC, MMC, MMCplus, RS-MMC; MiniSD,miniSDHC; microSD, microSDHC; MMCmicro; CF Type I and II, Microdrive; MemoryStick, Memory Stick Pro, Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick Pro Duo; MemoryStick Micro (M2)

    • 1 Visit the Sony Support site (see Resources) and download the Sony memory card software. You will need to specify your operating system. Save the file to your desktop.
    • 2 Double-click the downloaded file to launch the installer.
    • 3 Follow the onscreen instructions to install the Sony memory card software. Restart the computer after completion. Once the computer starts back up, it will recognize the Memory Stick Pro Duo when inserted into the computer's memory card reader. You can browse the files using Windows Explorer or the installed x-Pict Story software.

You need a new memory card reader. The reader isn't supporting the higher capacity of the new Memory stick. For a workaround, hook the camera directly into the computer via USB cable - then the camera itself becomes the reader and can transfer all of the pictures. Look for a reader that specifically does Memory Stick PRO Duo sticks, the PRO means the higher capacity.

Can not find instructions to use the card reader!

G'day mate, I'm not 100% sure but some of the cards such as the MemoryStick Duo come with card reader jackets. The jackets look like memory sticks that have been hollowed out. You place your Memory stick inside the jacket then slide it into the card reader. I had the same problem trying to read a memory stick duo in a PC's card reader but it always seemed way too loose. I can't guarantee anything but have a go and see what happens, the worst is nothing will happen, lol.

Getting my pictures back onto my camara

Connect camera with computer with USB cord, power up camera, computer will recognize it and if you installed Sony image mixer software that will prompted, close it, click My Computer, click removable Disk, click folder to open it, now you can copy pictures from computer and paste here but be careful about picture file name should be DSCxxxxx some thing, if you have already changed file names then camera will not show these picture in playback mode though pictures would be on memory stick.

Transferring photo from computer to memory stick

Many cameras will not let you write to the card. Try using a card reader, which will make the memory card appear to the computer as a separate hard drive.
