You may have a problem with the pressure dome hose (has a cut or kink in it) or it may be a problem with the main control board. Sometimes that small hose inside the machine can get a cut or come loose. That sends pressure to the board and its valve to let the machine know that it has the right amount of water in it. If it has a hole or is blocked, that signal wont ever come on, and you have overfilling.

Hotpoint first edition WMA10 making a bangin noise during wash programme. Cannot find filter in order to clean. [email protected]

I have the same model at work only under the frigidaire branding. The shock mounts for the
drum are made of plastic and can break (especially if the unit is moved without the
shipping screws) If one breaks the unit will make a clunking sound.

NOT FILLING PROPERLY

have you got the drain pipe going up to about worktop level of machine?
if the drain just goes downwards then the water just runs out as fast as it comes in. get a sililiar situation if you put drain pipe too far down a standpipe - then a syspon forms and water drains out
