Question about Aten Technologies Aten KVM Switch CS692

1 Answer

Hello all. I'm trying to connect the CS692 KVM Switch to a HP 6005 MT Pro PC via B937AA DVI to HDMI adapter. Anybody's got experience with this? The adapter specs says it will act as a HDMI port but on the other hand only for monitor. Any help is much appreciated

You need to upgrade the drivers and restart your system.

Thanks, Hassel Lee. you mean PC's drivers? Do I have to lock for HDMi Drivers?

Yes exactly you need to update this.

GREAT! Thanks very much again, Lee. Just realized now, I did post a wrong thing: It's a BP937AA Displayport to HDMI adapter but I guess in updating drivers it should work anyway. I'll let you know. Cheers

Hi Lee. I solved it with the CS692 KVM Switch. First I downloaded the HP Driver for Integrated and non HDMI Graphics Solutions. Then you have to download the latest Firmware for the CS692 from www.aten.com and install it following the instructions in the manual. After that you have to connect the PC's with two Display Port to HDMI Adapters, then a DVI to Hdmi Display cable. Now you can plug in the Display cable on front of the KVM Switch, one of each Audio connectors at the right side of the Switch Console and the other connectors into the PC Port. All the other Cables USB as well. Then at the end connect the Logitech Unified Receiver into the mouse port of the Switch and you're either able to switch with the hotkey(twice scroll lock+enter) or using the remote button.. Cheers

HDMI&DVI ports already used on LG HDTV.I have X BOX 360 S,has a HDMI plug, can I use a HDMI splitter to plug in the X BOX in the DVI port ?receiving computer via HDMI now

You will not be able to split them, but they do make a HDMI Switcher, allowing you to use your Xbox 360 as number one and your PC as number 2, w you cannot mix both at the same time.

I want to connect mt pc to my tv, how do i do it

There are multiple ways of doing this. First, if you have an HDMI port on your PC and you have an High Definition television, you can just use an HDMI cable to connect them. If your TV has a VGA port on it, you can also connect your HDTV using a VGA cable. Another option if you have an DVI port on your computer is to use a DVI to HDMI adapter such as this one:
http://www.amazon.com/DVI-D-Male-HDMI-Female-Adapter/dp/B004CHCLEU/ref=sr_1_14?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1333044296&sr=1-14

If you don't have an HDTV, you will need a PC to TV device such as this one:
http://www.amazon.com/HDMI-Composite-S-Video-Converter-3RCA/dp/B0047PDBP0/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1333044455&sr=1-1

To be clear, this is not a recommendation of these products, since I have not used them. These are just examples of those type of products.

Looking at purchasing a used HP MP3135. In purchasing a HDMI female to M1-DA male adaptor, will this allow me to connect my laptop etc via HDMI cable? We also would like to connect a Wii and HD TV, how do...

HP available M1 to VGA (included )
Optional M1 to DVI (available on HP accesories)
To connect laptop via HDMI to Projector you need a HDMI to DVI adapter + Cable M1 to DVI (you get ONLY Video on DVI Output)
To connect Wii to projector you need a M1 to Composite

look the manuals on page 20-30

How can I hook up MacBook Pro with Optoma 1690 Projector? Am I supposed to hit a certain function key to get Projector to see MacBook

You may need a certain connection (MiniDisplay Port to DVI, or MiniDisplay Port to VGA). If you're connecting to an HDMI-compatible projector, you'll need an adapter. You'll also need an adapter if connecting your MDP (MiniDisplay Port) to a DVI or VGA port. Here are some helpful links:

IOGear (GCS632U) 2-port KVM Switch problem. All functions well it seems after connecting for first time Mac Mini and XP Windows Dell PC except when switching to Mac I get a blank dark screen. Another side...

The IOGEAR GCS632U is designed to work with VGA computers and monitors. Using the Mini DVI to VGA adapter is not guaranteed to work with this KVM switch.

The Mini DVI to VGA adapter can only convert the port, but it does not have an ability to convert the signal from digital to analog when it's connected to the KVM switch.

What you need to have is a DVI to VGA SIGNAL converter. Unfortunately, I don't have a model number handy, so I would suggest to contact IOGEAR, because I'm sure that they already have a work around with this issue.

Thank you and good luck!

My menu says dtv Currently unavailable. How do I use the HD feature on my Olevia LT32HV

Do you have a High Definition cable/satellite reciever or a Blu-Ray player? Does your tv have a HDMI input or component or DVi or all of those? Most newer HD components use the HDMI connection. The HDMI connection is a single cable that has both video and digital audio together. The component connection is a connector with three rca jacks that are red, green, and blue. Audio is connected seperately with this connection via red and green rca audio jacks or a digital audio connector. The last is a DVi connector that is found on computers. Some older HD tvs and components use this connection. There are adapters available to turn a DVi connection into a HDMI connection. So if your TV does not have a HDMI connection but your HD reciever does you can use and adapter but you will not have any audio this way without using a seperate connector for the audio.

are you using a Mac Mini-DVI to DVI adapter or any adapters? This is a VGA video output type of KVM switch so probably the problem is with the adapters involved to it.

KVM Switch 4110 8 port

so is the KVM (control side, PS2 mouse / kbd>??)
or are all PS2 ports wired to adaptors,? i cant guess this nor what was used before, no history stated.
what was there before, this act?
and what now?
Ill assume worse cases (tossed a coin)
18 (16+2) adapters now. all devices are USB but KVM
ok.?

what mode fails, both the KVM pushbotton switch and or the hot key commands on the kbd?
Oops no manual button as seen on modern KVM.

KVMs are very complex. the hard part is the vast number of different PC.
USB , PS2, VGA, DVI and HDMI.. yah,..
OK 16 +2=18 x ps2, and 9 VGA ports. it is.
NO KVM does it all, ,, old KVM' do NOT work , on new computers, all folks know this , if they tried. or took readings to learn why it fails.
I bet power to the KVM is dead., no LED./
no manual button ,oops.
pin 4 PS2 reads 5vdc and connected up, same?
we use breakout boxes (DIY) to test ports connected.'

that Compaq is very old and no support now, no books.
why not ask at real HP, maybe some old guy there can dig it lost books>
40 KVM? that what you said, really? (or 40/8=5 kvm)?
my guess is the adaptor does not work or power issues
KVM >>PS2>>>ADapt>>> USB.(server) (usb 1,2,or 3 at server?)
The KVM in most cases, here, steals power from PS2 ports but not this KVM , its better.
i'd bet that adaptor cant do that.
(is the caps lock key working on the KBD and laser LED glowing on said mouse?

ask here, real HP.
lets see tests:
1: pin 4 ps2 5vdc?
2: mouse glows?
3: keyboard led , caps lock toggles? (glows)
4: lost the hot key commands (y/n)

one other problem is the BIOS in the server may not like your adaptor at all. When BIOS scans the keyboard. it expects a ID response if missing or grabled, it drops that device port.

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/

btw, one way to cure this, is run headless server software
end KVM for ever.

i run a LAMP server, that comes in the box, no kvm no any thing on ports. it has a web page to go to and do service that way.
port IP+:12321
modern ways work best.
in a server farm, a keyboard/mouse/monitor on rolling cart
for the super sick servers is best...

the other problem is USB only PC or server
does not scan PS2 ports, it has none
so if the adaption fails, at boot time, all is lost.
(BIOS reports connected devices to the OS)(unstated by you)so if the report fails, problems happen
for sure after the boot.

this device is s business device, now ("Enterprise)
the posts on it are like 10 years ago. all links to books now dead.
infact the compaq server that had them is turned off. (grin)
here is my search there. Why not ask them?
