Light Engine Issues

A few months ago my tv kept telling to to check the airflow then it would shut down. I had a technician come out and he told me that it needed to be replaced because my house was so dusty because of all the pets I have. I try to keep the back of the tv vacuumed but it had started acting up again. Today, it just shut down and the lamp light came on. I was able to turn it back on after a few minutes and now it is working fun. Is there anything else I can do to keep it clean. The technician was a real jerk and told me if I had the same problem again, they would no repair it for me.

Now, the lamp has completely gone out. I have ordered a replacement from Mitsubishi under warranty, but I was wondering if the early failure of the lamp could be due to the same issue.

Most likely cause of your trouble is a connect to a themister that is bad. It's not usually the kind of repair that a non-technican would handle. If you have the warning come on randomly even when you just turned the set on the trouble is not dust but it's not a kill the set trouble. you should be able to get it repaired for about $200 or so. The parts are very little but you must remove the light engine and reinstall.
Some alignment etc.
Call another local Mitsubshi guy and tell him you think you need the Lamp thermoster replaced.

Stactic electricity attracts dust in all sets so if there was someway you could blow dust away from set like small fan. It will not get 100% and may not even 60% but any bit helps. You can't keep all dust from them so try your best to keep clean dust regular in back. Hope this helps!

What else could cause the check engine code to read mass airflow sensor?

OBD Codes have nothing to do with telling you the
problem or the need to replace parts

Codes are used to diagnose the system with the fault,
that set the codes

Have to component test the entire vehicle system, to find a
problem

You were only told about the code

No one can tell you what the problems may be, until the vehicle
is properly tested to even find a problem

I began to have issues with my '05 Hummer H2 a few weeks ago.....

P0496 = "Evaporative emission system high purge flow"

At the dealership, we get a lot of complaints like yours and they all started with running too low on fuel or running out.

Start with replacing the fuel filter and get back to me.

Running low/out tends to suck up micro trash from the bottom of the gas tank and that gunk clogs the fuel filter.

2003 Tiburon GT, RPM's drop way down and idles rough at stop's?

More maintenance history needed. Oil changed regularly, timing belt replaced at 60 K miles, Engine air filter & intake air hose inspection?
Causes of the problem you describe are many. Recommend you have a technician check your throttle position sensor for any bad spots in the potentiometer... most likely cause when there is NO Check Engine light.

Tv not turning on

I also have this model. A few months ago, when I turned on the tv, it told me my lamp was in need of replacement. just yesterday, my tv did the same as you....the blue light flashed and then the lamp light kept flickering. All I can say is your lamp needs to be replaced.

DIY light engine

You have a defective light engine and you do not have to be under warranty for Hitachi to replace this part. We just went through this and here's what you need to do. Call Hitachi's customer relations department at 800-654-7013 and tell them that you have a defective light engine. They will act like they've never heard of this problem but they have. They will give you the names of some certified dealers in your area to call. Once a tech comes out and confirms that it's the light engine, call Hitachi back and they will send a brand new light engine to the dealer and Hitachi will cover the cost of the part (cost $1500).

Here is the deal, if you're under warranty, Hitachi will cover the part and the install. If you're not under warranty, all you pay is the install. Our install cost $400. Others on this site have paid $200. Do not let anyone tell you that you have to pay for the light engine part...you do not. Hitachi has not recalled this part but they are replacing it for free. Also, deal only with Hitachi customer realations number that I listed. Good Luck

Shut Down Message

The repair is to have the DLP engine replaced!!
FYI: The engine also can cause the set to shut down without any display or might even tell you the lamp door is open when it is not.
