If you are using RCA jacks to connect from the DVD player to the Television (RCA jacks are the connectors that have a white & red colored end for right and left speaker sound and another yellow end for video) connect one end to the back of the DVD player where it says "out going connections" and the other end to the television in the "incoming" connections. Remove your television antenna from the tv to the DVD player. The antenna signal goes to the DVD player and the Dvd player sends the picture outgoing to your tv set.
If you haven't done so already try connecting a different DVD player (or some other device) to the same part of the television to see if there is color. You can also try changing the cables connecting this dvd player and the television. If there is color on another device then you know that the problem is with the DVD player. If there is color with the same DVD player when you have changed the cables then you'll know that they were the problem. If the television does not play in color no matter what (DVD player or tv channels or anything connected to the television with all different cables) then you'll know it is at fault.
The jacks from the player go to the same colored jacks on tv. Then after jacks are connected, tv must be on channel AV or Input. that is the channel used by the jacks. JUST MATCH UP THE COLORS.
