DVD recorder won't start up properly

My DVD recorder is only 3 years old. Sony DVD I think the model number is RDH-HXD760. The problem is it won't start up correctly. The welcome message stay on and nothing further happens. There is a very loud fan noise as well. Sometimes if I turn it on and off on the wall several times I can get it it reboot- but this is taking more time each time. Do I take it to the DVD recorder doctor or ?????

I have the same problem with my RDR-HXD-860 which is only about 14 months old. It has only started happening since the digital switchover in my area (Beacon Hill Devon). The general opinion on the net seems to be that it is software related. Any suggestions?

Vcr won't record

first try a new set of connecting wires these are the usually cheap wires that will give out easily. if that don't work ,its most likly gonna be the tape recorder itself. how old is it.

DVD burns properly but keeps pausing and skipping

Decrease the recording speed. Record at, for example, 8x speed. 4x might be even better. This will solve you problem.

Sony DVD recorder RDH-HXD760

I am experiencing exactly the same problem. I think this product/model is a lemon. The stated issue of a faulty optical lens could be true in that I have had untold failures during playback (skipping chapters) especially of rental dvd even after disk cleaning etc. I guess I will need to have my set fixed (only if I can get warranty) or buy another product (possibly not Sony this time). Sometimes I wonder if these conditions are planned to occur in support of the economy. Phill W.
