Maytag side by side refrigerator , water and ice inside Model: MFD2561HES
After 3 years of service, it no longer dispenses filtered water because the tank and lines appear to be frozen. Utilizing a hair dryer to defrost, this solution only lasts a day.
Filter is less than 3 months old. Raised temp in freezer to +1F and 40F in compartment side, no help.

do you know if it is a whirlpool made model, 27ft french door, ice maker in ceiling, they had issues with a seal between ice compartment and ref side- leaks freezing air to water tank area, freezing tank. other wise if its not the filter -then water flow to unit. ck where it connects to ref, if good( should have steady stream with press. replace ref valve if bad look at your valve in wall or at sink.
you can start despensing the water right away, but dont drink it, after you replace the filter dump at least 2 gallons of water before you start drinking it, and the ice normaly takes 24 hours to make the first full bucket of ice, dump two of those before you use it!!
First try to remove the water supply from the solenoid valve open now the mains valve and see if you have water pressure to the solenoid valve if yes then the solenoid valve gone bad and need to be replaced if not any water arrive to valve then check the following.
In the fresh food bottom is the water plastic tank part no 19,TANK ASSY. Part Number: AP4069668 made by WHIRLPOOL this might have been freeze so the water cannot pass thought. So you can use a hair dryer to warm up a little bit so the ice will melt.
Second possibility is the water filter head when you insert the neck of the filter is pressing a valve inside the filter head and this open the water flow. You can remove the filter and try to press this manually use a bowl under the head and check if you have water if yes then you can try to force the filter in the head again if the problem insist then you need an new filter head. No 30, Head, water filter Part Number: AP4068390 made by WHIRLPOOL
You can find the part layout of your model in the following links
Your model refrigerator uses an electronic Ice Maker. You can test the Ice Maker by filling with tap water and let freeze sometimes they already have ice inside and shrinking because of defrost. If you can fill the trays with tap water and it freezes and dumps but does not refill with water the problem will be the water control valve. If ice maker does nothing and on then the Ice Maker is the problem. Try that first and let me know what you find, Sea Breeze
Your model Maytag comes with an electronic ice maker and if you just recently changed the water filter the water should be dispensed for 2 or 3 minutes or until any air that may be trapped in the lines is removed. If air is sill present in the filter the ice maker opens the water control valve for about 7.5 seconds. If air that is what the ice maker will get until the air is completely purged from the system. If you fill that you have past that point then pour tap water into the ice maker and let freeze. After the water freezes the ice maker should cycle and dump. If not the the ice maker core may need replaced. If yes it dumps then the air may not yet purged or the water control valve for the ice maker side may be defective. This is one of those wait and see repairs. I will send you a link to the copy of the service manual and page 71 begins addressing the ice maker. Thanks, Sea Breeze
Most like the water control valve on rear of refrigerator that controls the water to the ice maker has failed. Fill the ice maker with water and see if the ice maker will freeze and dump cubes. If yes water valve if no the ice maker. Rate me, I will need to hear back from you because I would like to know if this will get you going. I will send you a service manual and part numbers providing the model you have listed is correct. Thanks, Sea Breeze
try checking your water resevioir it sits behind the drawers and sometimes gets ice crystals in it
take a hirdryer to the water lines that are exposed for a few minuts this might help
Texas, sounds like your water reservoir is frozen up. Remove your 2 cripser drawers, you will see the reservoir behind them. Take a hair dryer and go over the tank and tubing ends. See if the water starts flowing. I find a lot of frozen water reservoirs on these french door models. They have a insulation kit for them. Catriver.
