replace the speaker cobra sells them for a few dollars 773-889-3087 or cobra.com also if you want a new detector you can send your old one in and they will upgrade to the next higher model at a good discount ( a lot cheaper than buying through the stores . the speakers are easy to install just plug in no soldering required .
Most likely the speaker simply blew due to excessive heat. This is a fairly common problem with all makes and models of radar detectors. Contact Cobra. They should either be able to send you a replacement speaker which you can install yourself, or they should issue you a RMA so that you can send in your Cobra for service.
Sounds like an internal fuse going. Did it happen while you were starting the car? Could be a surge.... How old is it, if you cant return it under warranty (may not be covered if they say its your fault) you can open it up carefully and check for fuses or blown components like resistors/capacitors etc
