The unit comes with a windshield mount - assemble the bracket ( if needed) and secure to a location on the windshield. Make sure its above the wipers and not behind any metal. Once installed, make sure that the radar detector is LEVEL WITH THE ROAD! This may require bending the bracket to level the unit. (Note: remove detector while adjusting the bracket).
Red is your positive black is ground yellow constant power green is a wire that does not need to b used nor the yellow unless u want constant power to the unit positive red wire goes to the front of your ciggy adapter black can go on edit hie side of the two grounds that hold your ciggy adapter inside the socket hope this sheds some light on it
if the beep is one beep every 30 secs then the front radar detector is defective. If it beeps 2x every 30 secs the rear radar detector is defective. If under warrantee you are good. If not, take to any dealer and cost $225 to get it replaced.
The same has happened to me. Instead of monkeying with it i got two pieces of velcro. Put one on the top of the dashboard and the other on the bottom of the radar. Dashboards are usually highest over the instrument cluster so I mounted mine just to the right of that giving me a good height like when on the windshield, its out of your way, and still near the cig lighter. Mine works great in that position, I have not noticed any difference in function and it still saves me. ha!
