Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 6000 Keyboard and Mouse

I have this desktop set and the mouse has been damaged by a toddler who found his way into the office area. The menu button is now difficult to use and needs to be pressed firmly, to function.

Am I able to just replace the mouse with a new one or do I have to purchase a whole new set? Will a new mouse connect with the current receiver?

I have the receiver which works for both the keyboard and the mouse. They came as a set, but the mouse needs replacing, not the keyboard. So, I was just wanting the mouse to work with the original receiver so I can still only have the one receiver to work both the keyboard and mouse still rather than 2 receivers. :) Will a new laser 6000 mouse connect with the laser 6000 receiver that I have already.

  • hollysteer Apr 08, 2009

Oh, I should say that I know the mouse will come with a receiver of it's own, but I don't want to use that one. Just want to use the single mouse/keyboard receiver that I already have.

  • hollysteer Apr 08, 2009

Oh, :( Was sure I mentioned the receiver as I have the wireless mouse and keyboard set. Thought that might have been obvious. Sorry. Anyway :)

Oh, I did mention it. Yay :) Found this at the end of the original question...

"Will a new mouse connect with the current receiver?" Yay :)

Didn't think I rated anything Was checking out a few of the things on here by rolling my mouse over to see if any descriptions come up, kind of like an easter egg hunt LOL but didn't think I rated. Perhaps I did by accident. This mouse really is playing up :( Found the ratey thing LOL, think I fixed it. ;)

    Thank you. :)

    :)

I'll reword my question and see if that helps. :)

If I were to buy a new MS Laser 6000 wireless mouse, would I be able to get it to connect to the MS Laser 6000 receiver that I already have which operates both the mouse and keyboard, or do I have to use the new receiver that comes with it.

Was hopeful that I wouldn't have to use a 2nd receiver and continue to just use the single (dual keyboard/mouse) receiver that is set up.

    :)

Great :) Saves cluttering my desk anymore than it already is LOL. Thank you so much for your help. That is absolutely what I was hoping for. ;)

You can't just buy a mouse, have to get the receiver with it..unless you have a mouse where you lost the receiver then it would work..

You didn't say you had the receiver..change the rating because that closes out your question and no one else can see it..

  • Anonymous Apr 08, 2009

Thank you I really appreciate that, that's how we get rated is by people's votes..I can't tell based on some of the other answers or you good now or do you still have problems?

  • Anonymous Apr 09, 2009

Ok I got ya now, you want to buy the mouse without buying the keyboard and you want to know if the keyboard will work..correct..all the same companies work with the same receiver so you will be fine.

The problem with my microsoft 6000 v2.0 keyboard is this. I have changed batteries (4x with brand new), the light on keyboard comes on, then after about a minute, the light goes off and keyboard does not...

Not to sound patronizing, did you push the buttons in the order it requires you to? The sequesnce and timing is important. Also, the keyboard and mouse have to be pretty close to the receiver, and the receiver need to be almost completely in a direct visual line with the devices on these MS keyboard desktop sets. I had a lot of trouble with mine until I put the receiver within 1-1/2 to 2 feet of the keyboard and mouse. Next time buy a logitech top-of-the-line set and you will not have this kind of trouble. I no longer have trouble with my 6000 desktop set, though, just in case you are wondering. I use the Logitech set on my newer computer and the 6000 on the XP .
Hope this helps.

How do I increase the range on my wireless microsoft 6000 keyboard and microsoft wireless laser mouse 6000 v2.0.

I have a Microsoft Wireless Notebook Laser Mouse 6000 that also has a very short range. The only solution I've found so far is to plug the receiver into a USB extention cord and run the cord toward the mouse.

Set up of a Microsoft wireless keyboard & mouse

The devices probably came with a USB cable and a receiver, or just a USB equiped receiver, that you need to plug into your computer. Go ahead and plug the cable and receiver into the computer so that your wireless mouse and keyboard has a means to communicate with the computer. Next, Here is a website address where you can download drivers for your mouse and keyboard. You must first choose either mouse or keyboard, then the exact product and model, then the operating system, and finally the language. repeat the process for the other device (mouse or keyboard, whichever you did not choose first). Good Luck! And let me know if there are any further problems.
