Have TomTom ONE GPS Receiver - received two years ago. Very little use. Took out of drawer last night and placed on wall charger last night. Little green lights on both charger and TomTom do light up, but not screen. Seems dead.

Being plug into a car charger (or wall charger) has little to do with not finding a GPS signal and this apply to your gps battery as long as you get power to your receiver.
It is not unusual for GPS to have problem finding suitable Satellites signals especially inside a building or areas where you do not have a clear view of the sky above you and the unit (e.g. High Rise buildings).
In order to speed up the location of satellites signals, you need to update your unit A-GPS Satellite locations database on a regular basis via 'Tom Tom Home' (which should be installed on your PC or Laptop). You can download the latest version of Tom Tom Home from the official site.
Without A-GPS and the unit not being in regular use, your unit may take a very long time to find suitable satellite signals. My own TomtOm One, without an up to date a-gps database has taken over 15 minutes to locate the required signals even in a relatively 'open' air location!
means little! A battery will only last as lonbg as its cared for/ The greatest error is that people do not charge it before use fully using USB or AC charger., Start the car with it plugged in damaging trhe battery and rsking damage to the SIIRF chip which locks onb to satellites. Leaving GPS in the car in hot situations kills the battery also. So change the battery and pergaps revciew these tips and avoid damaging your unit
Using cable data /charger port you can do charging both at system or in car under car charger option. those specifications placed in manual and normally lasts for 3 hours
I had similar problem this morning. Last time I was using my TT was about 3 mths ago and it worked fine. 2day I switched it on, the first screen appeard but the, TT just switched off. I put my friends SC card and it started... . Looks like soft on SD issue. I have a buckup file but at 87% it fails ... Lifes a ..... :D My advice is to download and install new soft on your SD card but what about maps U/me bought with the TT?? Have no idea
leave on charge for two hours, then with the SD card out hold down the
reset button at the back of unit for ten seconds and then the 'on'
switch for ten seconds.
