Cant access files

I cannot access my word, excel, and powerpoint files saved in the mydocuments folder and even in my usb. everytime i access a file from any of these programs, it stops running then gets hang. i cant even turn off my computer by doing the usual logging out process. this happens just now. i think it has something to do with the trojan virus which i cant remove or maybe from downloading norton internet security. i have been trying to remove from the add/remove programs but cant as well. it also hangs.

I would definitely NOT install Norton on a machine infected with a trojan. Go online and download the symantec removal tool and remove Norton. Go to www.ca.com/onsite and download a free trial of the CA Associates AV and scan your system, remove the virus. Then uninstall CA and install a virus program of your choice. I cannot tell you how many machines that have Norton come in here with virus infections.

I wouldn't try to install Norton on a machine I suspected had a virus (or at all really). There is a Norton removal tool on the Symantec website that might be useful, but you still need to get rid of the Trojan. There are a lot of free online virus scanners that should do the job. If you can go online in safe mode that would be best, or you could disable everything on startup using MSConfig.

Hi, can someone help me how to properly embed graphics on MS 2007? i need to attached an image on the file itself that i could open in another computer.

Hi!
Here are the steps to take:
  1. In Microsoft Word, Excel or Powerpoint you have to click on the insert tab on the top.
  2. Click on Picture.
  3. It would then show the "Insert Picture" window.
  4. Go to the directory or folder where you have the image saved.
  5. Choose the file or highlight the file.
  6. On the right side of the insert button is an arrow. Click the arrow and you will have a dropdown.
  7. Choose "Insert and Link"
And that is it. You have inserted and linked the file in a word, excel or powerpoint file.

I cant open my excel file, it said " File couldnt be found. Check the spelling of the file name, and verify that the file location is correct." i opened it from its folder, so it couldnt be that i've...

it's possible that the folder where the file is located may have a very similar name or path to the one where you're trying to open the file from, inside excel. double check not only the file name but the entire file location
for instance
if you have
c:/mydocuments/myfiles/myexcelfiles/file.xls
would be different from
c:/mydocuments/myfiles/myexcelfiless/file.xls

the look very similar but the folder where one file resides is myexcelfiless and the other folder with the same name resides in myexcelfiles, the difference is only one letter.. so please double take your time double checking!

Please give me detail steps involved if you were able to successfully use this mehod to convert files....

Say you got tons of Excel sheets, PowerPoint presentations and Word documents on your computer that were written in Office XP or 2003. How do you convert all these files to the new Office 2007 format. One option is that you open all of them in the associated Office program and manually save them in the newer (docx, xlsx or pptx) format. Or follow these steps and convert all documents in one go.
Step 1: Download Migration Manager kit and extract it into a new folder – say: c:\office.
officepack.png
Step 2: Download and install the Office Pack – this step is required even if you have Microsoft Office 2007 already installed on your computer.
Step 3: Assuming that you extracted the Office Manager files in c:\office directory, go c:\office\tools, open ofc.ini using notepad and add the following line.
fldr=c:\users\labnol\documents
This refers to the folder location that holds your office files. I am pointing this to my Documents folder but it could be different on your machine.
Step 4: Open command prompt and go to c:\office\tools. There you’ll see a utility called ofc.exe – this is the Office File Converter that will convert all old Office files to the new 2007 Office document format in bulk. Run.
convertdocs.png
Immediately all old Office files in that folder (and sub-folders) will get converted to the new format and are saved in a new folder.
This utility works with Word (doc to docx), Access databases, PowerPoint (ppt to pptx), Visio diagrams, Excel (xls to xlsx) and Microsoft Project files. The conversion may however fail for password protected documents.

Error code:0 i cant save any work on InDesign

You are either:

1. Using symbols like "/" in the filename
2. Or doing what I was doing which was trying to save the file in an (accidentally) locked folder. To fix this - right click on the folder and get info - open up sharing and permissions and make sure that your username has full read write access. I also clicked on the settings cog button and applied this setting to everything in the contents of the folder. The folder had somehow corrupted during a network transfer and this is what was making inDesign not play ball.
