Have you taken out the fuser and look at the roller. If the line is there, you will have to replace the fuser. If not, take out the toner cartride and clean the unit internally.

I installed a new imaging drum on 09-15-2010 on my HP Color LaserJet 4550. The printer indicates the drum has a 92% of its life remaining. Yesterday a thin white vertical line, about 2" in from the left...

Hi... cant I suggest something about your drum installation, You may have to take off your drum and clean it with a toner remover and also check your brush-line cleaner, for excess toner on the drum and the carrier because if you have exessive toner on the drum it will make unwanted drawing and line on the paper... only toner remover because if you take something else you will damage for sure your drum.

When I print a page on my laserjet, I have a blank spot down the center of the paper, like a vertical line.

It could faulty tone cartridge or the scanner unit is faulty.
I would say test the toner in a similar printer if you can.
If you get the same result then your toner is faulty

If the line runs the way that the paper does I.E. vertical on a portrait then it is dirty rollers normally.
If you open the lid and wipe the rollers this shoukd reduce or eliminate the black lines.

Printer leaves white vertical lines on document

I dont know what kind of copier you have but white vertical lines are virtually always caused by a dirty charge corona. There is usually a little plastic handle, blue, green or grey, that cleans the charge corona.pull it out ONCE, push it back in and try another copy.If you have an operators manual, it should have instructions for cleaning the charge corona.Good Luck, O'scope
