Black screen, led is green and if unplugged from computer led is amber. I need instructions about how to open the case of the monitor and possible solutions

  • Anonymous Jan 06, 2008

Monitor was working fine. Turned computer off. Later turned computer on but noticed green power button was flickering on and off on the monitor. Tried monitor on another computer....same. Unplugged monitor from computer and the lite is still turning on and off...in the dark the screen seems blank for the few seconds it comes on......seems a power source fault inside the monitor but I cann't remove the back panel . :-(:-(

My flatron L1710S flat screen will not come out of power saving mode. When I turn on the monitor the power button/light is green for a few seconds, the screen indicated "power saving mode", then...

I switch on my PC, ensuring that all cables, leads and power supplies are connected properly. The tower powers up no problems at all. I switch the screen on, the green led lights up, the screen is completely black. A blue box appears centrally on the screen with the text 'power saving mode'. The green led light turns amber and then the screen just goes black.

Please don't suggest going to control panel, as I can't get that far.

PLEASE PLEASE CAN ANYONE SUGGEST ANYTHING give me

Monitor led is blinking green but screen is black. Unplugged and replugged all cables already.

Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed DELL monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

The monitor shows a black screen but the green

Yes, there is internal main AC fuse, which should be OK because you can see the indicator light, you need to open it up and check for caps with bulging tops first, post back what you see so we can guide you further, see example of failed monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

Screen going black, green LED staying on

Check to see if the image is Dimmed. Chances are the power supply on the FPD is either dead or not supplying power to the back lights.
Your problem is the power supply or the inverter on your board, you can replace it and it will be fixed.
Easy Fix REALLY EASY FIX
(inverter is what supplies power to your backlights. A lot of the times the reason a monitor goes black and the green power button is on, is because the backlights shut off. in most designs of the 1730 the inverter is embedded on the power supply. That is most often the case on this problem. Power supply/Inverter=Replace it and you will have a spanking new looking nice monitor working again. :)
