simply stopped working. Told it is the Y board / z board? When plugged in, the red light comes on. When you try to turn on the set, it flahses green momemtarily, then goes back to red. Is there a part I can buy and install myself? Can the part be rebuilt?
Hi Rhaleinc,
Thanks for being so patience.
As you said, the local tech already inform you regarding the Supply Board. If i talk about the cost of supply board available on discounts would cost you 100-150 bucks depending on the model.
Now, in order to fix that, it's a time consuming job. Even a tech would take more than 2 hours. So, if you decide to DIY, you need to have a voltmeter as well to check if there is any other fault. The capacitors/diodes might be at fault alongwith supply board. If you are not well equipped with electrical systems, you might break rather than make.
If you call a tech, he would charge you more than 300 bucks ( Usually $300-500 ).There would be certain hidden charges they would charge ( Reviews as Per most of the customers ).
Let's even imagine you spent 300 bucks. Who will gaurantee that it would work? It might cause an issue after few months. That's electronic item and once it asked for repair , every time and then it would hurt yourr pocket and you would agree.
At this point, when it's confirmed that it's supply board / y /z fault, i would advise you to invest in new LCD. Atleast you do not have to worry for the next few years.
I understand your frustration, However, this would be the best solution.
Still, if you want to repair that, you can purchase service manual from :-
http;//www.ebay.com
Sometimes, you might find a used boards ( Working, rare but sometimes available )...
You can also check few sites like :-
http://www.plasmafix.com/
And you can contact them in regards to your model............
I hope that would assist you to take your decision.
Thanks for using Fixya.

Hi there,
TV’s have a built in self-diagnosis function. If the timer/standby
indicator is blinking, this could be an indication of a problem with
the unit. The diagnostic blinking will occur automatically with no
action required by you to engage it.
The timing of the
blinking you see would be as follows: two to nine blinks, (depending on
the fault), about a third of a second apart, then a pause for 3
seconds, then the two to nine blinks about a third of a second apart
again.
After you repair the unit, you MUST clear the values
on this diagnostic screen. These codes do not reset themselves after
the fault is corrected, so if you don't clear them, you'll be seeing
"old" fault codes the next time you enter this screen.
Here is a list of the problems that might have occurred indicated by
the number of blinks.
2 times-Main power supply voltage error (12V, etc)
3 times-Malfunction of 3.3V line
4 times-Malfunction of 5V line
(Voltage Supply to FE, etc)
5 times-Malfunction of power supply for screen
6 times-Malfunction of inverter or overcurrent, etc
7 times-Abnormal temperature inside unit
8 times-Audio circuit error (amplifier, etc.)
9 times-Fan malfunction
10 times- Digital FE circuit error
11 times-Malfunction of Trident IC or around IC
12 times-BH board error
13 times -Malfunction of balancer

I just finished repairing an 20 inch lcd monitor with the same symptoms. basically the same idea to fix them. when you have it apart examine all the capacitors ...especially in the power supply section. visually and by feel... if the tops of the capacitors are swelled they must be replaced.... be sure to respect the polarity when replacing them.

Hi,
Well the part number for the same is not available in a lot of online electronics stores that i checked. However i was able to locate a bid on ebay for the powersupply board for your TV. You can check and match the specifications before going ahead .

Took unit to licensed repair shop. Diagnosis was Power Supply Board /
Part E7801 P02002. Akai says not available. The $300.00 repair estimate
(inc. a $45.00 diagnostic fee / ok / fine)while a reasonable repair by
good shop doesn't seem worth the cost. Shop agreed to install if I can
find the part. Suggestions?

Hi,
I found power supply board of your TV for $153
Click Shop Jimmy to see an image and price info.
I think it is very low price of required board.
Hit "add a comment" button for further query / info.
Thanks.
First, you have incorrectly specified the Model No. for a replacement
power supply board for the Akai 32" LCD / LCT3285TA flat panel TV.
Next, the replacement part no. (notwithstanding alternates or
rebuiding) is E7801 P02002.
Did you read the supplemental posting?
The cost at Jimmy's is more than my local shop. Also, the previous responder suggested this on line locale. Not impressed.
Better suggestions?

I took model number from top of this post as it was not specified any where else.
Power supply is same in both models as per Shop Jimmy database.
E7801-P02002 no longer available.
If local TV shop repair defective power supply board at lower price then its fine.
Thanks.
My comments are as per Akai 32" LCD / LCT3285TA TV
If you have another model, please intimate to look for any helpful info.

Akai LCT3285TA / Power Supply Board E7801P02002. 32" LCD flat panel tv. Trying to find a reasonable solution w/o the sales bs. IF this component is rebuildable, where? I understand my installation shop may not guarantee same, my decision. Is there such a part? Separate myth from fact.
Need advise instead of sarcasm. Any professionals out there? Take a chance. There must be some frustrated consultants that have information.
By the Way,..FixYa,I did look at profiles from respondees. Are you kidding? The more specificity I requested, the more retreat from the experts. My question stands. Akai 32" LCD / LCT3285TA / Power Supply Board / E7801P02002 / Akai says...no more... / substitutes? Well?
LAST CHANCE.
AS PER THE ORIGINAL AGGREEMENT, NO FURTHER ADVICE IS NECESSARY. AS SUCH, NO CHARGE WILL BE ACCEPTED.
THIS TECH SUPPORT REQUIRES SUBSTANTIAL REVISION.
IS IT WORTH THE REPAIR COST? WHICH IS, IN YOUR BEST ESTIMATE, AFTER REVIEWING ALL PREVIOUS POSTINGS.....
Thank you for your advice. You correctly interpreted my question (admittedly not well posed) as a cost vs replacement issue.
The shop diagnostic ($45.00) and the estimate for repair, including labor came to about $315.00 which, considering the cost of a new like replacement, was not convincing.
You did not know that I bought another TV and that we were not lacking, and, as such, I was trying to determine whether or not repair to the original unit was worth "...anything...".
We investigated the value as a tax exemption. If working, the value was around $35.00. My wife and I also debated the fact that our shop would install the power supply board (obtained by us for about $95.00) install it for about $100.00 which would return our 32" LCD AKAI in working order for about $230.00. The problem was that I had already replaced the AKAI with a larger, different model. What were we going to do with a repaired AKAI except put it in the storage room with perhaps, use as a future Christmas present??!!! No way. The associated costs of such an altruistic decision are silly.
Thank you for your advice. It helped much.
As I am not familiar with the FixYa process, please respond so that I may respond with the satisfactory conclusion of your response.
