LG 37LC7D remote doesn't work

The remote control for our NEW LG flat screen 37LC7D tv is not working after only 3 days home from the store! It worked fine for the first 2 days, but now I must use the buttons on the side of the TV to power on, use the menu, adjust volume, etc. We had successfully programmed the Tivo remote to power the new LG tv, but that isn't working either. The green light on the tv will flash when I press a button on either remote, but nothing happens. Is our TV a lemon? Is the infared broken? I'm not sure what to do. I can't believe it's only been 3 days!

I have the same problem. I have changed the batteries, and attempted to find and reprogram code for the remote.

I must know use the buttons on the T.V. I have a universal remote that works on other items, but not my LG.

This makes me think it is the T.V.

I have the same issue - remote doesn't work, not even on external non-LG remotes whaty is the deal?

Remote no longer works. Lasted about one week and works maybe once a month, if that. I bought two LG sets, the 42 inch has the problem. The remotes both operate the smaller set without any issues.

Will Dollar General store remote work for lg flat panel tv?

  • Anonymous Mar 21, 2014

I received this tv from rent a center and paid way too much for it. I have experience fixing broken tv's with a friend of mine. This is my first troubleshooting experience since he passed. The standby light goes off and reacts to channel/volume/input signals, but nothing on the screen. The cord that was used doesn't have the ground prong and this is the only deficiency I noticed. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Had the same issue on my LG TV remote. The cable remote worked but nothing from the LG remote despite 2 battery changes. I then read a post that someone placed on another website and it worked! On the back of the TV, you will find a "REMOTE IN" jack. Gently take any old plg that fits in here and dab it lite with WD-40. Plug it in and out a few times to open this micro corrosion(?) that apparntly builds up. It worked instantly to my suprise!

This worked perfectly.....we live by the ocean so a bit of corrosion is expected.....I used some contact cleaner and a plug to work it in....Brillient! Thanks!

Wha-Wha-Wha-Wha?!?!?!?!, this fix actually worked for my LG42LC7D and MKJ39927801 (factory) remote pair! One day the remote just stopped controlling the TV. The greem lights would flash on the remote when I pressed a button & I could could control the TV with it's built in control panel but it was like neither device was talking to the other. I swapped batteries, I tried "reporgramming" the remote with the Power/Mute key channel up advice, no dice. Saw this suggestion and grabbed my iphone headphones, licked em and stuck that in the REMOTE IN jack - voila...the TV and Remote are in love (and talking) once again! exermed85 rocks!

Turns out there is a problem with certain LG models made in Mexico during May. Not only did the remote stop working, but the TV started shutting itself on and off randomly. Took it back and exchanged it for a Panasonic. Not putting up with that, LG.

Remote control doesn't work

You need to find out if the remote is puttimg out IR pulses or not using a digital camera, just point the remote at the camera lens, when you push any remote button, you should see flashing on the camera screen.

Tv sound doesn,t work from remote ,but works on tv

Are you using an HDMI cable from your cable box to the TV? I found that the sound greatly improved and volume control was better after switched to an HDMI cable. Originally I was using component cables that were supplied by the cable company. Note: I bought my HDMI cable on line for $10. I've seen the same cable in the store for $35.
