I have a short in mine. Sometimes it won't turn on. I hear a faint clicking sound. I accidently bumped it and the set came on!! After that if it was moved I would bump it then hit the power button until it came on. I then founded out if I stuck my hand under it more to the right facing the screen and tapped the bottom it comes on. It's been this way for 3 yrs now lol.

I have a similar problem with a Mitsubishi WS-48313. Status light will flash for a couple seconds when plugged in, but unit does not turn on. No clicking noises or anything, just nothing happens.

Need model number really, but sounds like a bad SSB module(small signal board). It would have to be replaced and depending on the model they can be expensive.

Yes, that would be the SSB module. List price of the module is $280.46.

Is there any other way to bypass that without having to pay alot of money to make it work? My friends have a really nice 64 inch bg screen t.v. and has the same problem but they were told it would cost around 500$ to fix it

This is a common problem with older Philip Magnavox projection sets. Over time one of the IC chips on the main power board begins to fail. You can find replacment chips and repair instructions on www.magnavoxhelp.com.

My Magnavox tv is about 5 years old. When we turn it on the screen is blank. A soft high pitched sound comes out of it. The green "on" light blinks on and off. Any ideas on what is happening and why it...

You have a bad eeprom. Very common problem for this TV. The replacement eeprom [location, IC002, on the Tv board] is dependent on which microprocessor [location, IC001, on the TV board] and which stereo decoder [IC 1001] are present on the board. See if IC002 has a color mark on it. red, yellow, green..etc. Or give me the numbers on the actual IC 001 and Ic1001. For example IC 001[ microprocessor] might beMCU A22V01-TO and IC 1001 [stereo decoder] MSP3440. Take this info to a TV tech if you cannot repair this TV yourself. Thanks for asking and give me a High Five of hands!

Why wont my mitsubishi big screen tv turn on? the green light comes on but then shuts right back off.

Model number given indicates it should be a 2000 year model.

If so, it should have the self check feature; try to turn the set on and when the green light goes off: On the front of the set press and hold both the menu and input buttons for at least five seconds and then release both buttons.

Power light will blink a two digit error code like: 2 blinks, pause and 2 blinks (2,2 error code is most common one). It will repeat the error code several times.

Let me know what error code you find and I will tell you what it may mean.

if this told you something you did not know rate this solution as "very helpful" as I do this here for free.

You can post a comment on this page.

LCD will not turn on power blinks on and off screen flashes same

You have a bad capacitor. Location is 2074, this is a 25 volt 2200MF 105 degree radial cap! Have a tech check any other caps nearby as well! This is a good start for repair......PS no flashing allowed!

My magnavox plasma tv started to take a long time to turn on until it finnally just wont come on the power button blinks off and on and it seems the tv is trying to come on but it wont

My concern is that this is a power supply issue. Hope it is still under warranty. Find a good qualified service shop. I would call first and get some estimates of repair.

Rear projection tv shut off and pwer button just blinks off and o

Sorry, but there is not much you can do at this point. Could be a number of things. Convergance chips shorted, power supply bad. Horizontal circuit shorted. T.V's sence a problem and shut off. They hardly ever blow a fuse anymore. Problem is Magnavox sets are very poorly built and have a ton of different problems. Then you have other sets like Toshiba or Sony that only have one specific problem, and chances are that's what is wrong. I usually tell people not to waste their money on fixing Magnavox. We call them Maggot-Box. They used to be good when NAP owned them. They gave techs all kinds of help and service literature....They were great. Now a days...The absolute worst company out there!! MOST repair shops won't touch them. They just don't hold up to repairs.

32 in Magnavox tv model 32MF231D/37

An earlier post of the smaller model of this with the same problem said to remove the metal cover over the power supply.

I have the 26MF231D and it worked great afterward (even though you can't mount it)

Here is how you remove the cover.

Black screen and no sound

I had the exact same problem with my Magnavox TV. No sound and no video but the power light was lit. I finaly gave up on finding a solution on the web and called in a repair tech. He fixed my TV in less than 30 minutes. You can find the solution here.

No pic or sound

The TV is in some kind of protection mode, the blinking LED show you an error code.
Try pressing 062596 and then press menu button (do these in quick motion, don't let them to time out while keying)...see what happens
I also heard that this problem appeared with some people because the of the burnt fuse in the TV. To fix that it has to be taken to the tech shop. mecry.gif
And yes I also heard about this issue many times, seems like this TV set is very popular with this kind of problem.
