TV Repair When I turn on the television its fine for about 1 minute and then the picture shrinks (kind of looks like you're watching the widescreen version of a movie) and then there is a line that goes through the picure as if it's divided the picture in half.

Check the vertical section thats small parts like resistor 19k or 22k that all resistor is change value or check all the small capacitor around the vertical section.

Based on what you described I would say your TV has the "shrinking and expanding" fault. Its a common problem on that model and the symptoms can range from the video shrinking and expanding or no video or no audio....You can read more about this fix on the site www.TvRepairKits.com

If you are watching widescreen format movie or tv programming on a non-widescreen tv, that is how it will appear. The widescreen is a wider picture so to show it on a less wide screen, it has to shrink down to fit. and leave blank space top and botton.

Common problem and fairly easy to fix.

Problem
Screen shrinks and expands - may or may not correct itself after the TV warms up. After a few days, weeks, or months of having the shrinking/expanding problem you may loose all audio/video but the power light will remain lit!

Solution:

Check with the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have built a kit to fix this problem.

If you have the following symptoms check the site www.TvRepairKits.com . They have a repair kit for this problem.

Screen shrinks and expands - may or may not correct itself after the TV warms up.

Black screen and no sound

I realized that there is a 90 day warrantee on parts and a 30 day limited warrantee on labor for the repairs that were done. As I stated, the original problem was the picture shrinking after a few minutes of the set being on. The repair firm took my control board with them. When they came back to install the repaired control board in my set there was a load spark during the installation, after which I had a black screen and no sound. The repair firm took my set them and installed a "CAP Kit", a STRM6511, and a "D1881". The set worked perfectly until two days ago.
I called the repair firm an they are coming out this Thursday to check out my TV. I am hoping the problem is related to the failure of one of the parts installed to fix a similar problem which occurred after the sparking incident.

I had the exact same problem. The screen would shrink then expand. After thrity minutes it would correct itself. Then one day it just broke - no sound and no video. I searched these forums but did not find clear instructions on how to fix it. I gave up and called in a repair tech. He fixed my TV in less than 30 minutes. In electronics dust has nothing to do. cleaning will not solve your problem your problem is due to trouble in vertical section. mostly it is due to electrolytic capacitor in vertical section is defective.it is common problem. also check supply to vertical section. "THE SCREEN SHRINKS TOWARDS THE TOP OF THE SCREEN FOR A FEW SECONDS BEFORE THE PICTURE TURNS UPSIDEDOWN THEN TURNS BLACK." is called fold over. regards thanks

Sony Trinitron kv32fs16 picture shrinks

You have a bad solder connection in the vertical circuit. This will require you to resolder these bad connections before it blows out the vertical output IC or other parts in the circuit. Do this ASAP before you make a small repair into a large one. If you have no solid state printed circuit board experience, please play it safe and take the set into a pro to do this for you. Tcl 58P638K SWITCHES OFF Tcl 58" takes a while to change channels and every so often freezes then switches off ,have to turn it off at the wall ,wait then switch on again.Only had it since Jan 2023 as it was a replacement for the previous TV we ordered in May 2022 .

stairmaster 4000 won't turn on. It has a reset box attached. The cord to an outlet runs out from that box. I press in the long needle like red plastic button. The red light on the rest box turns on (red light), but only stays on for a minute, then shuts off. No power goes to the machine even for that one minute. I would guess a fuse was blown, but I am just guessing... and I do not know where this fuse would be, even if it had one.
