you need to format your mp3 player in order for you to utilize this, once formattted you need to download the sonique player and this will be use in downloading songs before you transfer to your mp3
i think you're just dragging and dropping mp3's into it instead of using a program to load the music in. this mp3 player doesn't play mp3's, it uses it's own media type and makes a database of all the music in it. download sonicstage or MP3FileManager (http://sourceforge.net/projects/nwe00xmp3man) and start loading music in that way.
The Database error is generally because the device does not have enough free space to create the database ( or GUI ).
Delete some songs off the device and that should solve it.
You should generally keep 6MB free for every 2 gigs of music.
Please add to the question for additional assistance.
Best of Luck.
Take out the four screws on the back and pop out the battery then put it back on. Make sure you synced the songs properly. Add to the problem how you added your songs and I might be able to help.
Good Luck
