Keeps seeking but no GPS positioning

Hi I purchased a brand new Roadmate 700 two years ago. Its tracking system keeps seeking GPS signals ie showing little satellite in corner, but nothing progresses. it can still locate using the view feature, but no maps or sound or visuals associated with GPS. I tried resetting it using secret screen, reset data, but nothing works. Any help?

Get a new unit like any magellan mastreo series or roadmate 800 ,i had a 700 they start having alot of problems after i did my research on here.

Magellan Roadmate 1412 won't track satellites

It might mean that the signal is disrupted. Might be a software glitch. Try going outside, get a clear view of the sky. Then reboot/reset the unit. Hold the switch to the reset position or off position for 10 seconds, it will shut off. then switch it back on. It should reacquire a signal within 2-5 minutes, then it will fix on your position. If that doesn't work, try updating your software. Call Magellan Tech Support for instructions.

I am not sure what I need to do to update my GPS. because it does not show new address like our Home that was built 5 years ago. We just bought this Magellan Roadmate 1200 1 1/2 months ago new.

I am unable to buy an Australia map, you have all my detail on register but it won't let me purchase.Regards Bill Rossiter

Magellan 700 roadmate

it is a dicontinued like mine roadmate700 and started losing sattilite signal like everyone says here ,i got upset i spent alot of money on it,then this happens, so i decided and bought the new magellan mastreo 4000 and just updated the software and no problems i love it,portable,thin light weight internal chargable battery that lasts 3hrs,the signal strenght is awsome,never had any problems,my advice junk it, the 700 like i did and purchase a new unit.this way it will save you alot of problems and headaches in the future,beleive me.

My 700 gets stuck with the last map

Same problems, you have to update as far as I know and you have to update every year otherwise it will start to freeze up. It's a rip off because it's $99 a year. Does anyone know if the other GPS companies do this?

All navigation units are GPS Receivers - that is - they receive satellite signals. So, no there is no difference.

Stopped working

Your probably right about it still not working even after the 5.32 upgrade. Although it could be the software, so try resetting GPS user data. Enter into the "secret" menu by pressing the zoom out key and the repeat button while at the beginning user menu. select reset GPS data.. If it's nothing to do with software, check your antenna and make sure none of the pins inside the connection are bent.. or the RF cable inside could be gashed/cut.. bent up.. do you hear a rattle when you shake your unit?

Loss of signal

Leslie, Not updating your GPS isn't going to cause signal loss. Push the options key, go to configuration, then to diagnostics, scroll down.. select reset gps. it will say it takes 5 min. to relocate.. etc. see if that fixes it. If it doesn't fix then when you restart your unit and the user menu appears. Press "-" key and "repeat" button at the same time.. then select clear gps user data or.. user data gps... something to that nature.. Hope this works out for ya. -Dan
