Could be ambient/background noise being picked up by in-camera microphone - switch over to boom mic w/ noise canceling and see if it clears up. Make sure you change settings in Windows Audio Properties.

My web cam is not working with skype

Hi there.

You have to set up your web cam in Skype.

Do it like this:

Log in Skype.

On the top menu of Skype, select "Tools > Options".

A window opens. Click on the "Audio settings".
Check the microphone and audio is set up as your video/audio card in your PC. If not select your current video card name.

On the left menu, click on the "Video settings".

Set up the friends list that you want to let you see in Skype and test it.

Hope this helps.

Have purchased a Microsoft VX-6000 webcam and have downloaded and installed software. Having trouble with viewing through Skype. I can see and hear other person, they can hear but not see me.

Before you can use your webcam in any chat program you have to configure it to that program

Test your webcam here to make sure it broadcasts ok - Hit 'Allow' in the top window and check your cam in the left hand panel.

http://www.testmycam.com/
If the webcam broadcasts your software is OK

Start Skype.
On the Tools menu, click 'Options'.
In the navigation pane of the Skype 'Options' window, click 'Audio Settings'
Set your speakers as default.
Select your webcam as the default microphone.
Click 'Save'
In the navigation pane of the Skype Options window, click Video Settings.
Select your webcam as the default.
Click Save
Test your webcam by making a Skype test call.

I am new to using a web cam. I purchased the VX6000 and everything is working, however, the people I talk to on it only see static pictures of me (Skype).

I think what they are seeing is the photo you took with your webcam when you set up your account.
Make sure your webcam is is working OK and then check your settings

  1. Start Skype.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  3. In the navigation pane of the Skype Options window, click Audio Settings.
  4. Select your LifeCam device as the default microphone. For example, select Microsoft LifeCam VX-3000.
  5. In the navigation pane of the Skype Options window, click Video Settings.
  6. Select your LifeCam device as the default Webcam. For example, select Microsoft LifeCam VX-3000.
  7. Click Save.
  8. Test LifeCam by making a Skype test call.

Web cams and microphone

Hi, First I would suggest you get a Microsoft Life Cam VX-3000 as it will install the easiest and has a mic built in. Then I would suggest you and your family download SKYPE as it is FREE to talk on using the computer. It allows oyou to connect with several family members. Only have to pay if you telephone anyone from the computer using Skype.
So download SKYPE from this site: http://www.skype.com/intl/en/download/skype/windows/beta/
and follow these instruction to setup your voice/video.
Normal 0 After you install Skype and have it operational with you ID. Go to "TOOLS", click on "OPTIONS," Then go to "Audio Settings" and click on it. Make sure both the Microphone and Speaker's are correctly chosen. Then "make a free test call." Wait till the voice tells you to record. Then when finished talking wait for the test persons voice to insure your audio transmission is working. Then go back to options and test your video settings. Click on Video Settings and proceed to set up you video camera. Also, you can Visit this site for additional information to setup video.
