Question about 2wire HomePortal 1800HG Router (1000400229000)
I have setup 5 PCs on an office wireless network via a BT 2wire 2700HG gateway router (downgrade from a Win Server 2003 server/network) and Emailing send and receive do not work (using Outlook Express) but I know that the email setup is OK because I have the same setup on my laptop and I can send and receive when I am out of the office using a different wireless network AOL)? The Email uses a third party to collect the incoming emails POP3 (name.co.uk) but the sending is still smtp.btconnect.com. Could the problem be the Firewall on the 2wire 2700 or is there some other explanation? Any help would be appreciated! Regards Gerryw01
Because you have a third party email account you will have to go into the email accounts and in options look for my outgoing server requires authentication and tick the box. You may also need autorization from bt as they may not allow the incoming emails. also check that any antivirus programmes arent stopping the outgoing mail and putting them in the outbox.

The solution guided me to get within a wisker of having trouble free emailing.
All I had to do after following Sandrews guidance was to set the email address to name.domain.co.uk and leave the reply address blank and Hey Presto worked like a dream!
Thanks Sandrew
