Topload Washer model VBSR3100DOWW won't SPIN - Hotpoint VVSR1070D Top Load Washer

it is not supposed to pump water unless it is in the spin cycle. On most topload washers the motor turns one way for the agitate cycle and then the motor reverses during the spin/rinse cycle which in turn reverses the pump and causes it to pump the water out.

Check if the belt is good and tight enough. If that washer uses a spring tensioner on the belt, make sure it travels freely and applies sufficient tension.

Sounds like it could either be an electrical problem, with the signal from the timer control board getting to the gear box,,, or it could be the gearbox itself.

The problem lays in the transmission. From outside when you turn the universal (connector) the bowl with the brakes don't turn with the main shaft. When you open the transmission, remove the clip of the big plastic gear. After you lift up the plastic gear you will notice that one or two of the plastic parts are worn down. By replacing you will solve the problem.

If it is a topload whirlpool or kenmore, you may need a new lidswitch or motor coupler. What do you mean you push the drum to one side?

The buring smell could be coming from the belt, try looking to see if the belt i burnt or broken
