The same problem happened to my sister when she reformatted. All you have to do is go on the internet fine the latest firwire software and download it on to your Zen V Plus.

Start in recovery mode after reset (hold down play)
Select reload firmware.
Download the latest firmware from support.creative.com.
Plug the player into the computer, and reinstall firmware.

This is how I fixed mine.
1. Go here http://www.creative.com/products/mp3/MP3PlayerRecoveryTool/welcome.asp?region=1
and download the recovery tool.
2. Connect player to computer.
3. On your player, run the firmware upgrade utility
4. When the player prompts you, run the downloaded recovery tool from your computer and let it do it's thing.
Your player should work fine after this.

  • Detach your player from the PC if it is connected, and turn off the player.
  • If the player stops responding, you can reset the player. To reset the player, gently insert a thin object into the Reset hole located below the power switch.

I can't delete anything off of my Zen when it's hooked up to my computer. Also when I try to sync it Windows Media player says error and none of the songs sync.

try formatting the device... if that doesnt work, put it into restore mode by holding the play button while turning it on.the select clean up option...do not try the firmware upgrade option beacuse it may get stuck on recovery mode.

I have formatted my zen stone , and all files are gone for the system. i think. i can't listen music anymore can somebody help me please

if you have formatted your zen stone there is going to be nothing on there, because formatting is when it deletes everything. so in order to listen to music you will have to put some on, whatever you are trying to listen to music from.

Stuck in recovery mode--would love to avoid buying a new mp3

I had the same problem as your and it stopped working yesterday. After search for helps and now it is working again after I reloaded the firmware. But unfortunately everything is gone. You have to reload your musics again. You can try this out: 1) go to creative labs website to download the "Recovery Tool". 2) at Recovery Mode of your zen there are options: Clean Up, Format All, Reload Firmware, and Reboot. Try out Clean Up first if it still not working then try to Format All. After that try the Reload Firmware. After you done the Reload Firmware. 3) Shut down your Zen and try to connect it to your computer. Now your Zen will automaticlly power On and computer will recognize it as a drive. 4) Open the Recovery Tool you have downloaded at creative labs website. This tool will detect your Zen and follow it's instructions: It works with my windows Vista. Well, it works for me, I think it will work for your too. Good Luck!
    May God bless.

My creative Zen 8Gb wont allow more than 597 songs..

I'll run a cleanup on your zen, if that doesn't work then you should format it and re-transfer everything. Additionally, you may want to upgrade your players firmware.

How to enter the Zen’s Recovery Mode for Clean Up, Format All, Reload Firmware, and Reboot:

    1. With the Zen off, press and hold the "play/pause" button.

    2. Continue to hold until you perform Steps 3 and 4. If you accidentally release the button, start the procedure again.

    3. Gently push the end of a thin object (like a pin or straightened paperclip) into the Reset hole. You should be able to feel the release click of the button.

    4. Slide the On/Off/Lock switch towards the power button and hold until the boot screen appears on the display.

The Recovery Mode screen appears, and four menu items are shown:

Clean Up: A cleanup of the file system and database files takes place. All (uncorrupted) data should stay in tact. When the cleanup is complete, select Reboot. Your player restarts and starts rebuilding its music library. All files should remain intact unless they were detected as being corrupt.

Format All: This will completely reset the Zen and remove all user stored files on it.

Reload Firmware: This will prepare the Zen to accept a reload, new, or older firmware based on the specific firmware file you download and execute on a computer. Selecting this option will prevent your Zen from being able to boot, so make sure you have the firmware file on you computer and ready to load.

Reboot: This will execute a soft reboot of the Zen's operating system.

How to Clean Up, Delete Temp Files, and Reformat the Zen using Zen Media Explorer:

    1. Plug the Zen.
    2. Go to Zen Media Explorer.
    3. Select "Settings and Information".
    4. Select the "Tools" Tab.
    5. This page will show you the options to Clean Up, Delete Temp Files, and Reformat the Zen.

(Warning: When reformatting, you will lose all files you put on the Zen)

    My Zen V

You will need to re-fromat it. Yes, it does wipe it clean, but hopefully you have either a backup, or all the song files on your music player ( Jukebox, Windows Media ect...) At this point though, you may be in for re-occuring problems. Good Luck!
