Dishwasher won't dispense soap

I just moved to a new apartment where the old tenant left her dishwasher. When washing dishes the soap dispenser will not open to disperse the soap. Therefore leaving me with dishes that are only "cleaned" by hot water. The door is operated by a little roller to open and shut it. The former tenant wasn't a clean person by far. I cleaned it with white vinegar about 3 times and also a cleaner for dishwasher that I got from Walmart. Although I think cleanliness has nothing to do with this problem, what can I do?

The dispenser's unit should be replaced. You can try as well to operate the dishwasher while putting the powder detergent or the tablet on the dishwasher's bottom and if you will get good results, to opereate the machine this way. Good luck!

Dishwasher suds up and leaks during wash

Suds in a dishwasher usually come from using too much soap or the wrong kind. Soap can build up over times causing problems. First start a cycle.Do not add detergent or any dishes. When it starts washing, pour a cup of vegetable oil directly into the tub. This will cut the existing soap suds. You may need to try this a couple time before the dishwasher will drain. After all suds have been removed, load you dishwasher and start a cycle filling the detergent cup up half way. If it goes through the cycle with no problems, you should be all set. Still have the problem? A rinse aid dispenser that dispenses too much rinse aid will also cause the dishwasher to suds up. You can remove the dispenser from the door, flush it out and reinstall. Make sure you turn the circuit breaker off before taking the door apart. After rinsing it out, do not add rinse aid. Try the dishwasher and see if the problem goes away. I've seen people accidentally put liquid dish detergent in dispensers too. A dishwasher that has suds is apt to leak. Fix your suds issue and you most likely will fix you leak

Soap dispenser does not open during wash

Hi there,

Well you can please follow the below steps -
1. Remove any dishes in the dishwasher. Unhook the dishwasher's dish trays or racks from their tracks, and set aside. Empty the soap dispenser if it contains unused soap that failed to dispense. Use a wet rag to wipe down the interior of the dishwasher, as well as the inside of the dispenser.

2. Close the dispenser, and shut the dishwasher door. Turn the dishwasher on to a manual setting, then stop it and open the appliance. Check to see if the dispenser is open. If it is, continue to Step 2. If the dispenser is closed, skip to Step 4.

3. Switch dishwasher soap. Some dishwasher dispensers have difficulty with dry or liquid dishwashing soap, depending on the make and model of your dishwasher. Incompatibilities typically result in the dispenser sticking shut, which explains why the dispenser opens when empty. Switch to liquid soap if you are using dry powder soap, or vice versa.

4. Check the dishwasher soap dispenser's spring. The spring is located behind the dispenser top's hinge. Consult your dishwasher's original manufacturer's manual or user guide to find a replacement spring. Pop the old spring out with a screwdriver, and replace with a new spring. This should resolve any issues related to the dispenser failing to open.
Please post comments if you need more help or information..........

Good Luck!!

Thanks

Hi,

Dishwasher - Soap Stuck in Cup If you have dishwasher detergent stuck in the soap cup after a full cycle, please check for the following conditions:

  • The water temperature should be at 120 degrees (140 degrees if your dishwasher has water heating capability). Check your water temperature Check your water temperature.

  • Make sure the soap cup is not blocked by anything.

  • Allow the dishwasher to fill and make sure it is getting a proper amount of water. The dishwasher should fill for about 90 seconds. On permatuf models, the water should measure 3/8" above the island near the center of the tub. On all other models, the water should measure about 1/2" below the heating element.

  • Check the lower spray arm for any blockage in spray holes or items that would restrict its turning.

  • Make sure the soap cup has opened at the end of the cycle.

  • Check the sump area inside the dishwasher for any restrictions.

My dishwasher still has soap in the dispenser

are you sure its soap? do you have hard water? that could be leaving spots on your dishes and also not allowing the soap to properly mix with the water. there is a product out that actually filters and softens the water going into your dishwasher. it works great and is way cheaper than a new dishwasher. i would give it a try. i love mine. you can get it at www.dishwasherfilter.com

OLD KITCHENAIDE MODEL KDI-20 LEAVES SOAP GRANULES ON DISHES.

I have this same problem, plus the pre-wash soap dispenser doesn't open sometimes even though a service guy replaced that. Could he have replaced just one side and not the other? this dishwasher also has a new motor. sometimes it washes beautifully. but other times it does not. even if both dispensers opened.

I have a DW12-PFE2-2 the dishwasher tablet does not dissolve,it is still in the dishwasher detergent dispenser after wash has finished?

HI Accumulated detergent from prior washings can cause problems with the soap dispenser. Buildup can get into the soap dispenser and interfere with the spring that triggers the flip-out tray, or it can slow down the pivot action of the tray. If the dispenser is not opening, first make sure you aren't loading the machine so dishes or pots and pans are touching the dispenser, and that dish racks aren't blocking the dispenser. Also check to make sure the dispenser tray isn't cracked. If leftover detergent in the tray is almost liquid, rather than just damp, the tray may be damaged.
If you can't solve the problem easily, replace the entire dispenser unit. This is usually easier than trying to disassemble it and replace separate parts. Use a new dispenser made for the dishwasher. The screws holding the dispenser in place may be on the front of the unit, or you may have to remove the front door panel to get to the screws and make the replacement. Remove the old dispenser and secure the new one, connecting it in the same way the old unit was attached.

Dishwasher soap dispenser won't open during cycle

I had the same problem with my GE Adora. The dishes were getting cloudy and the soap dispenser would not open. Turns out the hard water deposits were causing the soap dispenser to stick shut. I purchased and used Dishwasher Magic which is a dishwasher cleaner designed to remove limescale, rust and buildup. I used as directed and now my dishes are sparkling and the soap dispenser pops right open.
