If you have central air, they could be coming from your vents. My daughter had the same problem with gnats at her school dorm. They were coming out of the AC vents.

Elimination
  • 4

Pour a cup of ammonia down your sink drains and disposal to coat the inside. Gnats inside the drains will quickly die.

  • 5

Mix together equal parts apple cider vinegar and dish detergent.

  • 6

Pour the mixture into small dishes or cups and set them out in the areas where gnats congregate. The gnats will be attracted to the sweetness of the vinegar but will get caught and die in the dish soap.

Gnats house

Vinegar can be used to get rid of gnats in the form of a vinegar trap. Vinegar traps are easy to make and can be used throughout the home, although they work best near areas where gnats feed and breed. To make a vinegar trap, simple take a bottle or jar with a large opening and fill it with vinegar (preferably white vinegar). Cover the trap, and cut a few small holes into the lid. The vinegar traps will attract the gnats. They are able to crawl into the trap but not make their way back out.
Another method for using vinegar to get rid of gnats is an alternative vinegar trap. This homemade insect trap is simple. Take a bowel and mix a few drops of dishwashing detergent with some vinegar. The vinegar will attract the gnats, and the detergent will help trap them in the bowel.

Need home remedy for getting rid of gnats

Get a bottle of wine. Drink 3/4 of it (you deserve it).

Leave the rest in the bottle on the kitchen counter overnight. The gnats will get trapped in the bottle. Or you could put it on the floor and when the gnats collect around the bottle, spray them with insecticide.

How did the gnats get in to the house in the first place? Probably hitchhiked on some fruit you brought home from the grocery store.
