Ok, so I just purchased a used PS2 from ebay and looks like i have been sent a turkey. Anyway whilst i try and sort this out, i wondered if there was an easy fix. The console boots up and loads games, however with all cables plugged in i have an intermittent picture on the screen. I get to next to no picture whilst the system is loading. Once the game starts to load i get a picture, however if the game has a section or major screen change the picture goes and then (most of the time) come back again. Any suggestions welcome !
Sounds to me like the graphics processor or power supply is almost dead. The system uses extra power when loading, taking away resources from the rest of the system. This will cause, among other things, reduced video output. Sadly, I don't believe there is a fix for this beyond replacing the unit. :( There is a *slight* chance, however, that a cable near the CD rom has come loose and the motions of the drive vibrate the cable into poor connectivity but somehow I don't think this is the case. Hope this helps some.
