Question about AEG Lavamat 72640 Front Load Washer

1 Answer

AEG Lavamat 72620 door does not open

I can only open the door using the emergency unlock knob. I have replaced the door interlock and the problem still exists. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks, David

It seems that your problem is with the lid switch and it should be replaced. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. You have to raise the top of the washer to get to the switch. Good luck!

AEG Lavamat washing machine model 76850, shows a blinking key and makes clicks and after that shows E40. Thanks John

Family error code E40 is visible to customers and (could be E41,E42,E43,E44 and E45 only visible in service mode) means problem with open door or door interlock.
I suggest rapid reading alarm code when appliance is in normal operating mode (e.g. during the execution of the washing
programme):
Press and hold down START/PAUSE and any of the option buttons for at least two seconds: the LEDs initially switch off, and then display the flashing sequence corresponding to the alarm.
The alarm sequence continues as long as the two buttons are held down.
E41 - Door open
E42 - Problems of door closure
E43 - Interlock power supply triac faulty
E44 - Door interlock sensing circuit faulty
E45 - Door interlock sensing circuit triac faulty

Possible causes:
Door interlock faulty, wiring faulty or PCB faulty.

Aeg Lavamat 64840 programme stops at 1 minute to go. turning the machine off doesn't help and you can't open the door

The main PCB, before sending the door aperture signals, checks for the following conditions:
• The drum must be stationary (no signal from the tachymetric generator)
• The water level must not be higher than the lower edge of the door
• The temperature of the water must not be higher than 40º C.
Automatic release device
In the event of a power failure, or if the appliance is switched off using the ON/OFF switch, or if there is a
fault in the solenoid valve, the bi-metal PTC cools within a period of between 55 seconds and about 4
minutes (at a temperature of 65°C), thus releasing the door.

if after swiching off for longer than 5mins and the door lock does not unlock the lock must be faulty.

AEG Lavamat 74800: Door doesn't open, i.e. opens with long delay

Following next link:
How washing machine door lock works how to test interlocks
Replace door lock.

untitled2-rq2y3fnvghvfrpvxa33jafnd-1-0.jpg When the washing programme is started by pressing the START/PAUSE button, the bi-metal PTC (contacts 3-5) is powered by the triac on the PCB (J6-2 connector): after 2 - 4 seconds, this closes the switch (5-4) which powers the electrical components of the appliance (only if the door is closed).
The door interlock prevents aperture of the door while the appliance is in operation.
At the end of the washing programme, the PCB disconnects the interlock from the power supply, but the door remains locked for 1 to 2 minutes (PTC cooling time).
Certain models feature a pilot lamp which lights to indicate that the door is locked. This pilot lamp switches off when the door can be opened.
