A factory reset won't fix firmware crashes or errors on updates. The firmware is what the machine does before the software is loaded and how it is loaded. A Reset, only reloads the operating software. Error 79 is an easy fix though. You will need to take it to an HP Service Centre if the firmware update is the issue.
It sounds like the printer is holding a print job in memory since it is showing " Printing Document" now on the display. Print Jobs are Stuck in the Print Queue. Disconnect any cables from the printer, except the power cable.

unit has encountered an firmware error internally. To solve it try this If printer is plugged in to a
surge protected extension lead then remove it and plug it directly in
to the wall socket.After it retry. If this fails again, then replacement of formatter of the printer is best option. Best of luck I hope

It's an internal firmware error. Power it off wait 30 seconds and power it on. If error code is still there, you will have to upgrade the firmware. If problem persists..replace the formatter.
Try to perform a soft reset
1. Press MENU/ENTER.
2. Simultaneously press then release the * button and the # button to enter the Developer's
menu.
3. Press the < or > button until the message REINIT FFS appears on the second line of the
control-panel display.
4. Press MENU/ENTER.
5. The process takes approximately 2.5 minutes. During that time, the control-panel display
will change several times before returning to Ready.
6. When the Ready message appears on the control-panel display, press CANCEL to exit the
Developer's menu.
Remove and replace the side covers again. One of them (I think right) has a tab that pushes an interconnect lever that if not reinstalled correctly or carefully will cause this error.
