There is a ribbon cable that tells the face what to do. You will have to take it in to get serviced as it is very hard to change. There are alot of pieces / parts inside. hope this helps
Red (accessory wire)- goes to hot wire that can be turned off.
Yellow (constant wire) goes to your cigarette lighter
Blue/white is your amplifier remote turn-on wire.
Probably have green and green/white- brown and brown/white-white and white/black, and another color for speaker wires.
You can hook one pair up to your cd player and find out if it's hooked up to the right speaker channel.
Orange (remote antenna) wire.
Perhaps something is not installed correctly physically. Sometimes if something is a little twisted the way the unit is installed it will keep it from opening properly. Try moving the unit slightly and see if that helps.
if the remote makes it work and it plays ....if all functions work other than display check for bad solder joints on the display pay attention to the ones on the corners if the unit is or was a tight fit in the dash its possible that the unit got a little stress and broke loose from the board .... if there is a white powder look in the display it probably bad... the silvery black in the corners is normal
u need 2 replace the ribbon that goes to the panel to the unit.i had the same problem with mine then i went on to ebay and found the ribbon there (cdx-m8800 repair kit)hope this helps
