I have been using my Labtec webcam for a long time on my Vaio laptop running WinXP SP3. The cam worked in Yahoo Msgr AND Win Live Msgr.
Now I'm on a Compaq Presario CQ70 (laptop) with Vista Ultimate. I downloaded an updated driver for the cam (webcam1051enu.exe). It works in Yahoo Msgr, but not in Win Live Msgr. In Win Live Msgr, I don't even see the labtec listed - only my built-in cam, which is HP Webcam 101. Another side-effect of installing the updated driver is that neither Yahoo nor Win Live can connect to the built-in cam now. :(
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

See section C. Windows Live
Messenger in the info below to setup the Audio & Video.
Also send this to your family
and friends so they have there computer setup properly.
Web Camera’s have to be
setup on the program they are to be used with.
Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to
broadcast on messengers or Skype.
Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for
the Audio and Video to function properly.
A. Skype Setup:
After downloading and installing Skype (http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/download/skype/windows/beta/downloading/
) set it up as follows:
The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now be able to
see and her to you.
C. Windows Live
Messenger:
Go to this
site http://download.live.com/?sku=messenger
and download Windows Live Messenger.
NOTE: Your audio and
video should work. Enjoy.
When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so
you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.
Hope
this helps. Bud
