Put the camera into play or review mode then hit the ok/menu button on back and format the card. This will erase all of your photos so make sure you've backed them up or download them.
When you recieve a "Card Error" or "Card Not Initialized" message, this indicates that your memory may be temporarily corrupted. This can be due to not formatting your memory card on a consistent basis. Most consumers will use the "delete all" feature and continue to take pictures. By doing this, the file format of the card may become unstable.
We recommend formatting your memory card in your camera after saving the images from your previous shooting session. Once a memory card is formatted, the images will not be recoverable.
Pressing the “MENU/OK” button as you would to erases files. There is an option to format the xD-Picture Card. Formatting erases protected files, but allows you to then take photos.
Yes, you'll need to format the xD Picture Card. You may be able to do this inside the camera in the options, if not - you'll need to connect it to your computer to get it to appear as a drive letter in "My Computer".
Select the new drive in My Computer, this will be your card, right click it and click Format, then proceed to format it. This should sort your problem out.
just wondering if you figured out how to "fix" it...i realize you didn't get any suggestions...this happened to my camera last night i'm going to be a tid bit pissed if we can't retrieve the pictures from the card...just got back from hawaii...awesome timing huh
