1) Disconnect from computer, turn it off, hold in volume + button and reconnect it to your computer - continue holding volume + until the Found Hardware Wizard comes up. 2)
REFORMAT FOR WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER - Erases Everything: Connect your iLo player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "ILO 2GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything, and give you a fresh start.
If you are using windows media player, whatever is on your sync lists will be added to you ilo and what is on your ilo that is not on your synch list will be deleted from your ilo, when you udate your sync.
For example say on your ilo you have only one album from oh I don't know lets say....Beefheart and on your synch list you have the Monkey's greatest hits and five different re-mixes of the Macerana. When you sync up, the WMP should take the Beefheart off you ilo and put on the Monkey's and the remixes. Despite your wierd taste in music, it should do all this for you.
Think of your ilo as just a player and the WMP as the program that takes the music on and off the ilo.

if there are no license issues with the songs you want to put on the player bypass media player and just drag and drop them in a file manager. it's all in the instructions.

if you have a ilo model mp-556 (on the back cover) this page has links to the firmware and manuals etc... i follow the instruction and got mine working.
u might need to use the reformat as well as the upgrade firmware to make your list read the same. reformating will set your storage area back to factory specs. i e delete all your songs on your player
What the hell!!! The stupid new WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER doesn't let me download my music.... and the first time i tried it deleted all my music i draged from limewire! WE NEED THE OLD WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
