I bought a new DVD and it won't play in my sony blu-ray.
All my other Blu-ray dvds play just fine. I took the dvd back and exchanged it, and the new one does the same thing. It shows that it is loading, but never does anything. Pushing play does nothing
I have the same problem and heard that you need to update your player online or something. This is what I am trying to figure out right now. The movie Twilight only played the previews then shut down when the movie itself was to start. I returned this and got a new one and that did the same thing. We have had the blu-ray player for over a year and never experienced this before. We played another blu-ray disc and this played fine. There may be a issue with the assembly, blu-ray plays with more precision and speed, for some reason it is not slowing down to play the regular DVD's may be a padder motor problem.
I have Avatar Blu-ray movie and it plays on my BDP-BX2 11.4.006 version. Take it back and get it exchanged. Try new one. May have to go to another store since the same shipments (bulk) that are at your store are ALL the same. I have done this 4 times with 4 different movies and 2 of them worked. I'm getting the .008 update but, I'm starting to think the Blu-ray disc are the problem since I have one that is made in Mexico??? I don't think they are all being made correctly. Too Cheap!
I would advise you to return the unit to where you bought it from and get an exchange unit. There appears to be a laser problem here - the DVD laser is defective - that's why you can only play CD's! (:-)
That is one of the problem with manufacturers that don't clearly explain the consumers that most of the blue ray dvd player is designed to play blue ray dvds ®ular dvds, but it wasn't never designed to back any DVD-R or DVD-RW. Sorry, there is no way around it,because Sony enjoyed being exclusive in many things. solutiondoct
